It pains me that we just *assume* Donaldson bats 2nd. The perfect compromise is Acuna 2nd. Gets him nearly as many ABs as the leadoff spot, but increases his RBI opportunities.
Who do you want getting more ABs next year, Acuna or Donaldson? I say Acuna. Donaldson is the tailor-made protective bat for Freeman.
v. RHP
CF Inciarte LF Acuna 1B Freeman 3B Donaldson RF Markakis 2B Albies C McCann SS Swanson
v. LHP
2B Albies CF Acuna 1B Freeman 3B Donaldson LF Duvall RF Markakis C Flowers SS Swanson

RHP CF Inciarte LF Acuna 1B Freeman 3B Donaldson RF Markakis 2B Albies C McCann SS Swanson v. LHP 2B Albies CF Acuna 1B Freeman 3B Donaldson LF Duvall RF Markakis C Flowers SS Swanson The thing about Acuna leading off isn't about him getting more ABs in my opinion, it's that he's comfortable there and excelled in that spot.
The thing about alternating Albies in and out of the leadoff spot....I may be off my rocker, but I don't recall Snitker being willing to do that during the 2018 season. It seems like he did a few times when Ozzie was struggling and Acuna wasn't batting leadoff yet, but I don't see a time where he's going to be willing to "platoon" two guys in the leadoff spot. For the most part it was either one guy or another, and lord knows Snitker is going to continue to manage that way. It may be more possible for him to rotate Ozzie in and out of the 2nd spot with Inciarte if Donaldson just hit 4th. Personally I'd rather see Donaldson hit 4th too. But Snitker is going to seek the same strategy the Braves have been using for almost 30 years now--give everybody a very defined role, including spot in the batting order, and stick to that for very prolonged periods of time.

At the beginning of the season I'd go.. Acuna Freeman Donaldson Albies Markakis Swanson Inciarte McFlowers
If Swanson had a good spring training I'd give him a chance to lead off going into his third season. Then I'd put Acuna between Freeman and Donaldson.

Man if we had some allstar to replace Markakis we'd look really good.

Oh wait...

Sorry, he’ll be playing everywhere. What a shame for a team to have such depth.

why not make a lineup where a player is most productive. Not force someone to a prototypical spot? Acuna was most comfortable at leadoff. He did best at leadoff. Donaldson was most productive/comfortable in 2 hole. Freeman we also tried at cleanup and he did his best batting 3rd. those 3 are perfect where they are. from there we find the best fit along the way. the only one i wouldnt put at cleanup is Ablies because hes already homer happy according to someone i read. forgot where but they said he trying too hard to hit HRs . Although it would be great to have a speed guy at cleanup to hit fewer DPs lol.

Now you guys are talking about ugly dudes. Here in Massachusetts, even the local Radio guys would pick on Clay Bucholz as a rookie because he was one super ugly dude and thats what would always control talk of him "damn hes one ugly dude" but now look at his wife. I cant find a rookie icture to justify it

You guys are just prejudiced against unibrows. Racists! You know, Whitey Herzog was pretty much impossible to dislike. Helluva manager. It's not just unibrows...

Sorry, he’ll be playing everywhere. What a shame for a team to have such depth. We’ll see. He better get 500 PAs, but I don’t see how that’s going to happen unless there’s an injury or two. Dansby could always be used as a super sub. He’s no Charlie Culberson, but he’s athletic enough to move around.

Ol' Raffy Ramirez. He was actually a pretty decent player........couldn't hit much, but otherwise, not too shabby. His 2 best seasons were also the Braves' 2 best seasons of the era, '82 and '83.
