With Acuna's success at the top of the lineup, I am concerned about dropping him in the order. I get the rationale behind it, but I also saw what happened when we put him in the leadoff spot. Same deal on Inciarte... Every year the first half of his season is decidedly mediocre, and we are just arbitrarily throwing him back up top? Snitker thinks he looks like one of those baseball leadoff player guys.
I read somewhere the other day he was leaning towards putting him back in the leadoff spot. I'd rather have Acuna there considering what he did in the leadoff spot last year. How bout

This is the trend in baseball now, and no these guys aren't going to be taking pitches. The Cardinals are planning on batting Goldschmidt second, Trout usually hits second, I'm sure there are others too.
I read somewhere that getting your best hitters at the top of the order only creates 1 more win per season at best, but a lot of teams are doing it.
Hell, nobody steals bases anymore these days anyhow. Not like they should.

I don't know if you've ever caught this before, but when I was a kid I had to move near St. Louis for about 6 years because of my dad's job. As soon as I finished high school I moved back to NC. While I lived there I followed the Cardinals, and I absolutely loved the Whitey ball era, that's my exact favorite kind of baseball to watch. Once he left and all the players left, by about 1987, I stopped rooting for them. I still rooted for the Braves the whole time, there just wasn't much to root for for a long time for us.

Coleman gets on, steals 2nd. McGee brings him in. Rinse, wash, repeat. Tommy Herr was a line drive hitter who benefited, too. Drove in over 100 runs one year during their peak, IIRC. On a side note, Willie McGee might be the ugliest dude in the history of baseball......LMAO.

They had a lot of likeable guys on that team. One memory from that era most people won't recall is when Garry Templeton was coming off the field and grabbed his crotch in reaction to some fans harassing him, and Herzog reached up and grabbed him by the arm and yanked him into the dugout. It wasn't much longer after that he was traded for Ozzie Smith.

You guys are just prejudiced against unibrows. Racists! You know, Whitey Herzog was pretty much impossible to dislike. Helluva manager.

There ya go! I stand corrected, though. McGee is Adonis compared to Zupo. That is one ugly dude.
