Fair enough, but why is calling out your teammate allowed but protecting him isn’t? That’s my point. The policy should cut both ways. I’ll say this. Had Cox been the manager, this crap with Acuña would have been stopped one way or another. Snit ain't no Bobby Cox.

Neither are tactical geniuses, but Cox teams were more fiery and the players had a whole different type respect for Bobby.

Glavine, Maddux, Smoltz, the Jones boys, Lopez, Justice, etc. Those guys all had an edge to them. They got a lot of that from the boss. They knew Bobby had their backs, they had his back, and they had each other's backs. Times have changed, too. Players now have been coddled a bit too much, I think. Of course, I'm old, so there's that.
I don't know that they respect Snit that much. I think they like him. Respect? Maybe, but like you said, a different kind.

I use to refer to Snitker as Bobby Cox Jr. and I did that because they had quite a few tactical similarities and did the rah rah cheerleader thing all the time. They both set a lineup in concrete before opening day and stuck with it no matter how anybody played. A way over the top player loyalty. And like was said, neither were tactical geniuses. But I stopped that reference because there definitely was a passion and aggressiveness with Cox and his players that to me made a big difference, and I know he did get on players hard, usually privately. But it’s way different with Snitker, it looks like the guys decided to let Pap Paw be the manager out of kindness and everybody is just happy getting along and having fun.

Mets announcers told a funny story last night about Billy Martin keeping a certain pitching coach around for years and years because they were drinking buddies. One night a pitcher was struggling and the pitching coach, who wasn’t very sharp, was sent out to the mound and said to the pitcher, “Son, I don’t know what you’re doing wrong, but whatever it is you better stop doing it because you’re really pissing Billy off.”

So as it stands today....
Are you ready to fire Snit right now?
Are you ready to let the season play out before deciding?
Do you feel Snit has done enough as Braves manager to deserve a mulligan for a season in which the team obviously went in with no bullpen, and then has had things like losing Ozuna and bad Freddie Freeman to deal with as well?

Fire him now. Good guy, bad manager. He was a career minor leaguer. There were reasons for that. We've seen those reasons over and over. He plays favorites, he wears guys out, and he can't manage a roster. The sooner he's gone, the sooner we can move this team forward.

He got screwed because of the bad pen and weak bench but he really got exposed for his moves and now inability to light a fire under these guys. My first choice to finish the year would be Chipper even though I think he said he doesn’t want ever manage, 2nd choice Ron Washington. But I do think he will be allowed to finish this season and possibly be around next year too.

I think he went along with everything that was done because he has no vision and he plays favorites. He's incapable of making the hard decisions that have to be made. Managers aren't blameless. Of course he'll be allowed to stay. He's a good ol' boy and this organization rewards good ol' boys.

I don't know how much he has to do with roster decisions, so I'm not going to assume anything either way there.

I am not going to blame him for personnel decisions that may or may not have been his fault, nor am I going to say fire him because of an organizational structure that may have the GM doing the GM stuff and letting the manager manage what he is given.

I think he may have had some word on personnel decisions but since I don’t know either way I can’t hold it against him. The two guys I would suspect would be him supporting Tomlin and Luke.

This tread needs to be pinned. This team is completely lost and has no fire at all.
