Man, I wish baseball would get going. My Tar Heels suck this year, which I am NOT used to, so I got nothing sports wise right now. I'll watch some NFL and of course the Tigers vs the Tigers, but it's not the same as having a strong rooting interest in something.

I hate this time of year with baseball down but at least I've got hockey.

Take it for what it's worth, Bowman is saying the Braves aren't anywhere close to matching JD's asking price, but it's Bowman, so who knows what the truth is.

It sounds like one of JDs draws to Twins is he would rather face AL central pitching than NL East pitching lol Duh... But can't believe he would admit that

Time's up! I'm getting the feeling that Donaldson isn't getting what he wants from the Braves and may move on.

We probably offered something like 4/$95, which IMO is a strong offer. At this point, I'm ready for us to just let our "3B of the future" handle the hot corner and the cleanup spot, and allocate those funds to improving the OF and rotation. Sure Riley will strike out 190-200 times, but he'll probably hit 35-40 bombs and drive in around 100, especially with the top three setting the table for him.

I'm ready to roll with Riley until the All-Star break myself. Then we can see where we are. If we sign JD and he falls off, we're screwed. Besides, Donaldson struck out 155 times last year himself, which was a career high by a good margin, which is worrisome. His K% was also a career high at 28%. Prior to last rear his career K rate was 22%. That's a jump of over 25%. At 34 years of age, that makes it even more worrisome. Some guys drop off a cliff at that age, you know. I like Badhaircut, but it seems everybody focuses on the positives with him and ignores the negatives. That said, Riley was at almost 40% last year. That's an alarming rate, but of course, he's only 22 years old, too, and it's not like he's the first young hitter to ever struggle with the slider.

What's funny - and I should have known better - is that at the beginning of the offseason, after all of his "wanting to come back and play for the Braves" talk, I really thought we were going to sign JD for something like 2 years and a 3rd year option. It's insane where it's gone from there.

Steve Adams MLBTR opinion“ I said before ... at this point I'd go 30/30/30 percent on Braves/Twins/Nats and 10% on some mystery team(or a rekindled interest from LAD/TEX). I kind of feel like if he was going to sign in Atlanta, it'd have happened by now, but maybe if the Twins and Nats refuse to approach/exceed $100MM, he'll just take Atlanta's best four-year offer (which I don't believe is all that close to 100 at this point)”
