Here's what's happening. Braves got by on the cheap this past year for the most part and managed to get away with it. They won't be so lucky next season. They're probably gonna take a step backwards. Keeping Nick and Flowers is NOT how you move toward a World Series. IMO They better wow the fark out of me the rest of this offseason or I'm going to say we will definitely take a step back and it could be a big one. If they are trying to bridge us to Pache and Waters and a future catcher, they're effing up because we're ready to win for real right now in 2020 without those guys if we make some smart moves. And we won't be signing a good catcher, making Flowers the backup, nobody pays a poor backup catcher $6M.

"Atlanta has right-handed-hitting Adam Duvall on hand to serve as a platoon partner for Markakis, should they choose to go that route. Markakis, 36 later this month, has been a fixture in the Braves’ lineup for the past five seasons but saw a reduced role in 2019. That’s likely to be the case in 2020, particularly given the veteran’s recent struggles against left-handed pitching." That P word again. lol, reduced role my ass. He had fewer ABs only because of the broken wrist. He started 95% of the games when didn't have the injury. I hate dishonesty like that.
Our organization is really pissing me off, starting with taking away the chop for game 5, not retaliating when the Cardinals hit Acuna, and then these two signings.
The topper is going to be the day they announce the chop is gone.
Or they'll keep the chop and change the name from the Braves to the Atlanta Woodchoppers. Then they can move on knowing they've successfully ruined something else and find the next dumb thing to be offended about.

Well this makes our whole catching situation even MORE frustrating, Trump gave Suzuki a reacharound.

The best thing about re-signing Nick is that, now that JD's a free agent, he can go back to being our everyday cleanup hitter!

Who doesn't love a cleanup hitter who has averaged a 101 wRC+ over the last seven years!!!

Braves Decline Options Over Teheran, Hamilton; Issue Qualifying Offer To Josh Donaldson Zero percent chance JD takes that, isn't there? This is his chance to get at least a three year deal.

Braves Decline Options Over Teheran, Hamilton; Issue Qualifying Offer To Josh Donaldson I know Julio has been extremely frustrating at times, but the guy was with the organization for over a decade and was a solid team player through some rough years. Here's to you JT...hope you land with someone that can use you.

The draft pick we gain from JD may make up the one we surrender for Wheeler

Grant McAuley @grantmcauley Nick Markakis is returning with the plan for him to share playing time. #Braves have another year of Adam Duvall (if tendered) as well as adding via FA or trade. Alex Anthopoulos said top prospects Cristian Pache and Drew Waters are earmarked to begin the season with Gwinnett.

David O'Brien @dobrienatl #Braves haven't ruled out bringing back Teheran at a lower price. Anthopoulos said both sides agreed to stay in touch and Teheran will explore other potential offers.
