Geezus. I held out hope we'd let Markakis walk. He's the definition of average. Dammit!!

We've overpaid him for 5 years! Make it 6 now. Pisses me off.

I'm not worried about the pay.
I'm worried about the play.
I bet Snit starts him in 140 games if he doesn't break down.

And Ender in CF with Flowers catching.
How could any fan want more than that???

Braves Decline Options Over Teheran, Hamilton; Issue Qualifying Offer To Josh Donaldson I know Julio has been extremely frustrating at times, but the guy was with the organization for over a decade and was a solid team player through some rough years. Here's to you JT...hope you land with someone that can use you. I liked Julio in the beginning and he gave us a couple of really good seasons, and was real good off and on. But he was way too inconsistent, and he pitched his way out of the playoff rotation two years in a row, which to me means a lot. I'm more than happy to see him move on down the line.

He will be back....
Not finding a better option, he will re-sign with us for less money than what the option would have given him. So we will still have Julio... at a slighter better price.
He will probably open up the season as our #4 guy.

Now is the time to put some effort into maxing out the potential in our lineup, with some good moves we could be legit contenders in 2020. Instead it’s going to feel like we’re saddled with relatives we just kind of like staying at our house for a lot longer than we wanted. Next move will be trading Camargo for a couple of iffy bullpen arms.

Markakis serves no purpose whatsoever. That's the one that really gets me. No power, no speed, no arm, and getting old. Dammit!

Just have to hope Waters and/or Pache ascend quickly. These moves do make Donaldson look like a huge priority. Acuna, Albies, Freeman, and Donaldson is still formidable regardless of what combo is behind them.

Acuna, Albies, Freeman, and Donaldson is still formidable regardless of what combo is behind them. That is very true, the problem is we need more than that when it comes playoff time. There's plenty of teams that are formidable 1 thru 8. And it doesn't help when half of your formidable four don't show up for the playoffs.

So, apparently the Braves have already lost the offseason before it even started ...

So, apparently the Braves have already lost the offseason before it even started ... What's your take? We saved quite a bit of money by releasing Teheran and restructuring Flowers and Nick’s deals. Not a bad start IMO. I’ll wait to see how the rest of the offseason plays out. Flow is a backup and AA has said that Nick is a platoon player. I’m ok with that if we bring back JD and get a guy like Grandal. LF Acuna 2B Albies 1B Freeman 3B Donaldson C Grandal RF Markakis / Duvall SS Swanson CF Inciarte Who knows how things will play out? But no need getting too upset over some minor moves to start the offseason.

Why do you think those guys took those deals? No one else would give them anything better. Other teams have needs for a backup catcher and a platoon outfielder. No one wants them because they know it's not hard to do better. We gave little more than peanuts and got what we paid for... Personally I would prefer to try and find someone with some sort of upside for those roles. Flowers and Kakes have no upside...nothing. I would rather have AJax as our backup catcher because he at least offers the ability to actually catch the ball. If not him.. I would rather have Cervelli.
I would rather have one of the kids at the farm instead of Kakea because at least they can play defense, at a cheaper price. If not that, then roll with Joyce... he showcased better offense and defense.
These are now two wasted roster spots that will give us next to nothing. No team supposedly on the verge of being championship quality would bother to have these two slugs.

Guess we may as well throw in the towel. Lol. Look, by my recollection, the Braves have done fairly well in AA’s first two years. Personally, I’m not ready to call the offseason a failure on November 4th.
