I’d just as soon sign Ozuna and see if we can swing a deal for Seattle 3B Kyle Seager. RF Acuna 2B Albies 1B Freeman LF Ozuna 3B Seager SS Swanson C d’Arnaud CF Inciarte I'd just assume sign Ozuna and let Camargo play 3B

Star Tribune in Minnesota is saying that the Twins are pessimistic about their chances of landing JD. When you combine that with the fact that the Nats only have $15 million to spend before going over the luxury tax, it appears that he's gonna sign with the Braves.

Why is nobody talking about how LM has FINALLY loosened the purse strings and given the Braves money to drastically increase payroll?

Looks like they're out. I'd say let him go elsewhere if 3/$80 won't get it done. Think his agent is overplaying his hand?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Braves have already offered 4-years; they're not gonna back track from that. My guess is that the rumor of 4/$104 is true and this weekend JD's agent is trying to get 4/$110. Due to this, we're seeing the Nats move in another direction, and the Twins not budging from whatever number there at, hence the reason why they're pessimistic about getting him.

Rumors are rumors regardless. So the Braves are bidding against themselves based on what you're saying. I just don't see a bidding war for an oft injured 34 year old player. Makes no sense to me. Of course, the teams have lost their sense this winter.

If a JD signing enables payroll increase might be beneficial some have noted the payroll potential

Nats offer 4/95 Twins offer 4/100 Braves offer 4/104 Agent tries to get 110, Nats bow out, Twins don't budge, Braves don't budge. Braves aren't bidding against themselves. Fin.

Why is nobody talking about how LM has FINALLY loosened the purse strings and given the Braves money to drastically increase payroll? Because of who we're loosening them for. Not for a dynamic player in his prime, but for a past his prime guy who, while he is a nice power hitter, his defense is overrated, he can't run a lick, and he is a huge injury risk.

Braves already increased payroll. Why are you SO against the JD signing? I get maybe being worried it might not work out, but you’ve basically, based on what I’ve seen, taking the same stance many took when the Braves first signed him. Personally, dude just came off a 6 WAR season. Considering the Braves window is currently open, I’ll take two really good years, one okay year, and one bad year, if it means the Braves make a serious run over the next couple of years. It’s a win now move, clear as day. Eventually the Braves had to do it, and considering the other options were either a massive amount of money, see Rendon, or massive amounts of prospect capital, I’m fine with this move.
