Dansby needs to disappear from the conversation when talking about 3rd base. Why is it not a legitimate point to ask why, discuss and analyze the organization being so desperate to upgrade at 3B and yet so satisfied with SS? As much of a dansbum critic as I am, I’d much rather him play 162 at short than watch nick play 62 at RF.

Why is it not a legitimate point to ask why, discuss and analyze the organization being so desperate to upgrade at 3B and yet so satisfied with SS? As much of a dansbum critic as I am, I’d much rather him play 162 at short than watch nick play 62 at RF. I agree with that. And I’m not a Dansby critic, I’m just being honest and stating facts. I still like the kid, I still pull for him to find consistency, I get people enjoying his hustle and enthusiasm, I get people still liking his potential, but all things considered he hasn’t been very good and we’re talking about three full seasons now. He has a career OPS of .703, a career wRC+ of 79, and for all the raving about his defense he has a negative career UZR/150, and a career WAR of 3.7 after three and a third years. I’m just pointing that out because you aren’t going to see our writers say it, and our announcers aren’t going to take their mouths off his root, they act like he’s a god. So I think it’s completely fair to say he’s had a really long leash so far with no end in sight, and be a little bothered by that while at the same time we’re talking about spending $100M for a desperate upgrade at another position. Where it’s very questionable if we need to be that desperate. Complaining about it isn’t going to change anything, but neither is complaining about Snitker in general, Snitkers overuse of his starters, Snitkers love for Markakis and Flowers, his use of Luke Jackson, our pitch sequence patterns, and so on and so on, but we do that on a daily basis. It’s 90% of the posts here. It’s just people venting, that’s part of what this is all for. As long as someone backs up their complaints with some facts I think anything should be fair game.

Dansby is why the Lindor trade would make so much sense for the Braves. He could be included in the return package and lessen the prospect cost, and at the same time improve the hell out of our team.

I still don’t like just having Lindor for just two years. Maybe we can sign him when he’s a FA, he’s just 26 now. I like the idea of that a lot more than signing JD now. Of course the problem will be Lindor will want 7-8 years. But maybe he’s a guy you do that for given his age and abilities.

I just wish JD would make a decision already so we can finish our offseason.

Cleveland does a good job with pitchers, too, so the pitchers (I'm assuming it would take 2 of our pitching prospects) we trade to them would probably become stars. That would suck, and is frankly my biggest fear in making trades. I would assume it's also the biggest fear of those who actually make those trades.

I just wish JD would make a decision already so we can finish our offseason. We play our first spring training game on February 22nd! It seems like we start earlier every year, which I don't mind at all.

Well whatever transpires in the year 2020, we should have seen it coming.

I am thinking the JD decision will not be made until the Kris Bryant ruling is decided.

I am thinking the JD decision will not be made until the Kris Bryant ruling is decided. That may well be a factor. I don't think the Braves will have the highest offer for Donaldson, either. He may already have a "final offer" from the Braves. Who knows?

Dansby needs to disappear from the conversation when talking about 3rd base. Why is it not a legitimate point to ask why, discuss and analyze the organization being so desperate to upgrade at 3B and yet so satisfied with SS? Well usually it just becomes a vehicle to hate on Swanson, which is fine.. but I did address that. It's obvious they have very different expectations for what they want from 3rd base. They are hard core old school accepting whatever they get from a SS bat, but wanting a power bat at 3rd. Everybody should get that by now. No big deal but I just don't see the point of saying the same thing over and over. I just want to know what option we are going to go with at 3rd base. I get we do repeat things about Snitker, but I rarely bring up Snitker when talking about JD vs Bryant vs internal options at 3rd base.

The point with Snitker was that we say the same things over and over when we know darn well he's set in his ways just like management is set in their beliefs right now on 3B and SS, but I'll still say just because they're set on the way they view those two positions doesn't mean we can't be critical of it if we disagree with them, even if it's over and over. And for the record I don't hate on Dansby, I still like him and root for him and always have, I've just posted factual numbers about his actual performance and how I feel about those numbers.

It’s no different than the dansby apologists that refuse to acknowledge the facts I’ve been spouting for 3 years.
