If it takes the 4 yrs to keep JD and the Braves get back to the series for 2020 and 21 and even win one, hey for me that is worth it. Heck, lets win em both back to back And who knows what the next collective bargaining thing is going to be as far as guys being under team control, I can see the union fighting for 4 yr free agency So in essence, I want to be as good as we can be for the next two yrs and let the future take care of itself, thank goodness our team is not in the excuse making "rebuilding" stage anymore. Good riddance to that Win NOW baby hell, its not my money I wish I knew the financials. If we can spend 25 mil or if we have to dump other salaries. Another consideration is will the DH come to the NL. That would give JD some rest and possibly extend his productive age.

I did not know that Danny Santana was that good with Texas
Lets see him come close again, now he did have a good rookie yr with Minnesota in 2014, for some reason he fell out of favor, and never showed enough for the Braves but man, last yr Texas got a diamond in the rough
As for Camargo, I like him - even if we do lose out on JD its not like we do not have an MLB caliber replacement.
And who says Riley cannot get better - I know I have been hammering out that as of late.
The Braves are in good shape, would not mind seeing another veteran low cost arm for organization depth.
Jordan Lyles anyone? He can be low cost and a step above AAAA, just in case of injury & that the kids like Wright, Anderson and Bryse Wilson cannot really do it. Depth is not a bad thing.
BTW, I say Thank You Julio for your good career here and wish you the best
Will say the same about JD when he is not playing the Braves, hard to root for a Nat but will not hate him

And I expect 4 yr free agency, that will help guys who come through the college ranks and start a little older The small markets well, either put up the dollars or else. Pay your players or they will get paid elsewhere

Remember when we wanted Moncada AND Benintendi for Teheran and wouldn’t consider Devers? Devers has become a hell of a player who knew he would be better than both of em Just never know about prospects but I would take either one of those guys on my team That must have been in the Coppy era. I guess he turned that down cause his cause was collecting young pitchers, most of em that did not pan out (Blair, Wisler, Touki, Jenkins, oh the list goes on of those failed pitching hot shots) One of em panned out in the trades, Fried (finally) and to some extent Folty when we see the good Folty And one draft pick Soroka looks good, time will tell on the drafts (we only had 3 in that era)

He might not bring much in return but his salary is not prohibitive One of the kid outfielders just might be ready soon, that is why I see him as movable Could Melancon be another dump, he might be harder to move - we have Smith now with other set up men

Hell I am a fan, could care about financial planning for billionaires who got a nice a taxpayer subsidized real estate development Cobb County stepped up, now give back and not be a scrooge - Win now when you can Not that its a bad thing, glad to have Sun Trust and the Battery but the last thing I am worried about is the business plan for billionaires that have made out pretty well with their investment

Greedy bucking fillionaires!
We could have the best 26 players in baseball if they weren't so selfish with their money.

It will be one thing to lose out on JD to the Nats, but imagine if its the alleged smaller market Twins that is the team that beats us out for JD?
Now, that would be somewhat humerous - latest word is that there are two teams offering 4 yr deals, the Nats and supposedly the Twins per mlb network
If the Twins beat us out I will get a chuckle, what the H can you do
At least our cupboard is not totally bare on that end, we still have Riley/Camargo so the blow is not a disaster

Market size:
4,112,198 Atlanta Braves 2,968,806 Minnesota Twins
Current team payroll:
Braves $133,709,375 Twins $90,388,333
We're not that much bigger than they are and they have a lot more room to spend money, so it wouldn't be that humerously out of line if the signed JD.

Braves market is 10 times that according to mlb heck you can't stream a braves game in 5 states.
