Grant McAuley@grantmcauley As expected. However, the #Braves could still bring Billy Hamilton back in a reserve role. Kevin Seitzer would get an extended crack at helping the speedy outfielder continue strides he showed at the plate with Atlanta. Good glove, too.Jon Heyman@JonHeyman Braves will decline Billy Hamilton’s $7.5M optionSay it ain’t so!

They could bring back Billy Hamilton for less money, maybe make a deal late in FA when the bargains come in
There are always a few good left overs in late January, February that is when I expect the Braves to start making deals
Would love to have JD back for a couple more yrs but business is business and maybe Riley can get better - he has to

Betts is not comming here, Braves would be fools to part with any of the top prospects that are cost controlled
Would like a replacement for Luke the Puke - don't want to see that again, he was more lucky than good
That high WHIP is more indicitive of how good/bad he is
For better or worse Melancon is the likely closer going into next yr, they are already paying him for next yr so hope for the good Melancon he has had an up and down career

Mark Bowman@mlbbowman With no other internal candidates, exercising Flowers' option ($6M) is necessary. There's reason to debate whether they should exercise Markakis' option ($6M) given he'd likely fill a platoon role. As for Teheran ($12M), I think they'll look for a cheaper option.
Danny Parker@TheDannyParker Replying to @mlbbowman Seems like $18 million for Flowers + Teheran is excessive spending. Is it not possible to decline those club options and still negotiate to bring one or both back? Then allocate the saved funds elsewhere like a Grandal and/or Wheeler?

Mark Bowman@mlbbowman That doesn’t mean they wouldn’t pursue a frontline starter. It means they don’t have to pay $12M to a fifth starter.
Ben Riley@brile72 Replying to @mlbbowman Saying that we are going to find a cheaper option then Teheran makes me sick to my stomach. It will always be frustrating that the braves won’t put forth the money when they have a window of opportunity to make it to the World Series.

David O'Brien@DOBrienATL That’s well below both the expected average annual value and total amount of contract Cole is expected to command. Many believe he’ll get at least 7-8 yrs and $35M or more AAV.
Justin Thomas@ThatDude_JT@DOBrienATL @mlbbowman any idea of about how much money Braves will have available to spend this offseason? Also, do you think 5 years and $175 million is enough to sign Gerrit Cole?

David O'Brien@DOBrienATL Someone like Kluber is a legit possibility. Everyone is so focused on free agents, but fact is #Braves have indicated in past couple years they’re more inclined to trade for frontline guys with a year or two left on contracts.
Daniel McHan@damforua @dobrienatl I think we should offer up a package for Kluber! Legit ace who may be too expensive for the Indians to hold onto. Cheap contract, & the Tribe needs a centerfielder and hitting. Even though I like the guys, maybe Inciarte, Riley, and a pitcher??

Maybe we could formulate a traditional platoon?

Markakis platoon. That’s a good one. Really,I heard that joke last season Exactly. And Nick’s 0.4 WAR this year doesn’t make me all warm and fuzzy about living another year of that. Despite the fact that our announcers think Nick is the most valuable player in baseball.

Well Snit and Kakes obviously have more than a platoonic relationship
