Well then you may be happy. That's what I expect to happen. I have no details about what Morton wanted and the circumstances around any such situation. Well, he got 2 years $30 million, with a vesting option, from the Rays. Braves paid Keuchel $13 million for a few months. We do know that. Yes we do and I would love to have had Morton. Maybe AA was dead set on a lefty.. Maybe Morton asked for something more from us.. I have no idea and I don't know what to say unless I know all the details. |

I was only responding to your post about naming names. I have no idea what calls AA made and didn’t make. I never said AA is an idiot because he didn’t think of it. For all I know, he did think of it and the Cubs said no, and then countered with a stupid offer that made it obvious they weren’t really interested in trading him, or AA is an idiot. He’ll if I know. I assume he made some calls, though. I made my post because people like Cheaters tend to say things like "we should have traded our unwanted prospects for their viable AS player" or "we should have given up 4 of our top 20 for a 1 year guy". I wanted to hear what he specifically had to say. I find trade speculation hilarious and worthless and you point out exactly why. We have no idea what might have been done or what wasn't done and what other teams might have been willing to talk about or not talk about it. Saying we should have done this or that is stupid and pointless unless we are talking about things we are much more certain we could control entirely ourselves. Cheaters is ridiculous because it’s always unwanted prospects. Trade speculation is all we have, and it is ridiculous, but since we’ve all convinced ourselves it’s worth doing, the least we can do is make them realistic. |

we have lots of trade assets we could have made a trade for an above average or even average catcher Start naming names. Which assets would you have traded for what catcher and how do you know the team in question would have made the trade? I can't say for sure I would look for the best deal but here is an example.... Seattle is said to be interested in trading both these guys both would make us better. So here is a fair trade. That doesn't hurt us in the long run.. Braves send Newk Wright Contreras Seattle send Haniger Narvaes. According to trade simulation braves players are valued at 54 Seattles at 54.6. Super fair trade and Seattle gets the young pitching they need. And Haniger gives us time to let Waters or Pache get better in minors |

Narvaez can hit, but he's a horrible catcher. Not exactly the profile you want to put with PB Flowers.

I’m hearing that Rendon is willing to take a short term, high AAV, contract. If that’s the case, the Braves could probably afford something like 5-year, $175 million. They’d have to trade some guys like Inciarte, Duvall, Greene to do it, but it could be done.
