Did anyone ever stop to think that maybe Grandal simply didn't want to come to Atlanta? we have lots of trade assets we could have made a trade for an above average or even average catcher Who? Again, there aren't any. |

The Nats had 9 players total amass more than 2.0 WAR this past season; 6 above 3.0 WAR. The fact is, most teams have an alarming rate of 1 to 2 WAR players. Ah, well then I find it much easier to accept that we didn’t address the glaring weakness we had at the catchers position! Most teams are weak at catcher so we may as well be too! That’s really putting the Braves in a tough position to earn your approval, considering there were only 11 catchers who accrued more than 2.0 WAR, and one of them was Tyler Flowers. |

That’s really putting the Braves in a tough position to earn your approval, considering there were only 11 catchers who accrued more than 2.0 WAR, and one of them was Tyler Flowers. I’ve been pretty clear that I thought Grandal was the move and we should have spent the money there, that’s the source of my butthurt over this. It’s going to be magnified if we spend that money on JD now, I think he’s a bad investment now at 4 years $80M if we give him that. |
