TBF, most of the excitement is over the fact that Neck won’t be starting, not that Ozuna is some offensive god. I haven't gotten that impression, but I also never said anybody thought Ozuna would be an offensive god--my impression is that just about everybody expects him to be a solid cleanup hitter and almost everybody is ignoring the defensive liability he is going to be. I’ve read/seen quite a few articles, since the signing, that have talked about Ozuna’s defensive liabilities. Most of the comments I’ve read, though, are from people thankful that Neck won’t be starting now. Many think he’ll be fine as the clean-up hitter. He won’t be as good as JD was, but he’ll do fine. We’ll see.

It is improbable. With AA not wanting to commit the years to JD and, at this point, not wanting to give up the prospect capital for Bryant, what were his options. I think people saying Ozuna is “fine” are people just trying to see the glass half full and not succumbing to hysteria. I’m not gonna try to get in the “AA should have done this or that” argument because we don’t even know what he tried to do. There are too many variables at play to fully understand why something didn’t happen. Take Marte for example, we saw what the pirates got and many have thought, I’m sure, that the Braves could have matched that. Question is, did AA try and Cherington didn’t like the prospects? Did Cherington want more from the Braves? Does AA not want to block Pache or Waters, hence the one-year deal for Ozuna and not two years for Marte? Who’s to know? Ozuna seems to align with AA’s philosophy of not wanting to block their prospects. JD, Hamels, Keuchel, and Ozuna are clear signs this appears to be the philosophy.

I don't disagree with a single word you said. My point is that people seem to be pretty hyped about Ozuna and hoping he can rekindle the player he was 3-4 years ago. I'm just saying I watched quite a bit of Cardinals baseball the last few years, as I do a lot of teams since I have the package to watch all games, and Ozuna has been extremely average. I actually said right after the signing was announced that I get it and that I thought it was a real good gamble for one year. If it was 3-4 years I would have had a heart attack. But for one year I don't mind the gamble on him, in fact I agree with it and like it. I'm just entering it with tempered expectations because I've seen him play a lot the last two years.
When the Marlins started acting like they would trade Ozuna or Yelich or both, I would have taken Ozuna over Yelich at that point in time. But he's been far from the player he was back then.

Between common sense and hysteria, let's choose hysteria... Who is choosing hysteria?
I may need to take a break from the internets, people are losing it.
Tempered expectations is not a drastic approach.
Hell, I've said a bunch of times I like the gamble for one year, but somehow I'm in panic mode or something, I don't know.....

Ozuna is now 100% confident in his shoulder and will produce a career year, topping even his 2017 numbers. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. 😁

I'm rooting for you to be right.
For the record, I'm not even predicting he'll be average or worse, I just have certain expectations based on what I've seen.

No one yet, but we have some here prone to it and for me it signals the season is nigh upon us. I'm ready for it! I don't think my comment really had anything to do with you at all..

I don't think my comment really had anything to do with you at all.. lol, you'll have to excuse me, I've had a REALLY bad people week.....I've had two people in my place of business I've wanted to punch so bad this week, I actually had to really work seriously hard to keep myself from doing it. With all my health issues I've started up with a new doctor who has made incredible strides in isolating several really bad health problems, what they are and how to treat them....we've started some treatments and some of it is messing with me. I'm feeling better overall and I'm finally 100% confident we're on the right track, but it's going to be rough going for awhile getting through a lot of treatments we'll be doing over the next year. I may have to drop off the internet warz for awhile along the way. In the meantime, I'm pretty punchy right now. And itching to get the baseball season started!
