Kevin McAlpin @kevinmcalpin Alex Anthopoulos didn't rule out the possibility of Ozuna being here beyond 2020. "I think this is a very good opportunity for him to play to his potential with a good team, good lineup. There's always the potential that this could be a longer deal over time" #Braves @680thefan

I'll be rooting for him, and I'm not going to rub it in when the complaints start rolling in about his throwing arm, but I know what to expect.

Of Ozuna, Castellanos, Bryant, Arenado. Ozuna has the best exit Velocity and Arenado the worst. Which tells me Ozuna had some bad luck and Arenado is lucky he plays at coors

Great signing.
Maybe he can destroy the pitching of the team we face in the playoffs this year.
Low risk, high reward--- gives CarmoGoRiley a chance at 3rd and we don't have to give JD his "retirement plan"--- MO can protect FF just fine.
I hope we can sign him for 2+ more years if he pans out.
AA does a nice job considering his responsibilities, both to management and fans.

Everyone knows what Ozuna did in 2017 -- a true MVP caliber performance. And everyone knows he's not repeated those numbers in 2018-2019.
But what do we know about AA? He's a savvy guy who is forward leaning analytically, and is willing to place bets on that data. Remember when we got Javier Vazquez, a guy who's peripherals suggested he was much better than his raw W-L and ERA always indicated? Well, he was a borderline ace with us. The same could happen here. Look at what the statcast data said for Ozuna, based on his hard hit rate, BB rate, and batted ball profile:
ACTUAL 2019 STATS:
BA - .241 OBP - .328 SLG - .472 OPS - .800 K% - 20.8% BB% - 11.3%
STATCAST EXPECTED 2019 STATS:
BA - .288 OBP - .367 SLG - .548 OPS - .915
If you buy into the validity of this technology, we just resigned a better hitter than 2019 Josh Donaldson for 1/$18M.

We got TWO "una's" in the lineup now! We got an Ender between two una's!

Low risk (as if 18MM is low risk) but he is a respected RH power bat...yeah he's not Roberto Clemente in the OF. AA delivered and protected the interests of the MLB club, as in, the Bravos.
MO will indeed protect FF-- and we didn't have to commit (my damn near retirement years) for the privilege.
Bravo, AA. Well done.
Myself, I liked Nick C. for the job, but I get the signing given the constraints.
Again, I hope he goes 30/90/.270 and we have to give him 3/60 to keep him.

Is his arm really a concern compared to Nick's? I was reading he was the best UZR/150 out of all the left fielders and 2nd in DRS.
