Well at least it's just for one year. I can't bad mouth that. For one year it's worth taking a shot. I'll root for him, but I know what to expect, this is not the same player he was three years ago, not even close. But it does possibly give us a guy to protect Freddie some and gives Riley/Camargo a year to prove themselves and helps bridge us to Drew Waters, so all in all I'm ok with it. But praise the lord it wasn't for 3-4 years. AA proving to be pretty savvy. Now the only question is - do we go Ozuna, Inciarte, Acuna or Ozuna, Acuna, Markakis/Duvall left to right in the OF?

I'd open it up to whoever is performing.
One telling thing though is the Cardinals were a really weak offensive team WITH Ozuna, they've added nothing this offseason and were willing let Ozuna sign elsewhere for $200,000 more than the qualifying offer they gave him. It shows they didn't want him back, for a reason, and preferred to get a pick.

Hey, the pillow contract worked great with Badhaircut. Maybe the same will be true of Ozuna. The pick is a wash, and the Braves obviously didn't want the chemistry risk of Puig. Castellanos probably gets 3 years or so, and I can see not doing that, too. In the end, I guess it makes sense. Maybe he can reprise 2017.........you never know.

Great shrewd moves by Alex from day one this off season
King Felix, what the hell, its a big name low cost sign for a yr no risk involved
Then you get Hamels, gambling on him - when healthy still a viable SP for ONE yr
Smith, okay, they went three yrs but he is a viable important BP piece
Now, you pass on 4 yrs for a 34 yr old JD (and I get it, who knows if he repeats what he did last yr) and you get the big bat in Ozuna for One year, man that is the bridge to Waters and Pache
No need to trade Nick who is worth what he is making now with his line drive bat and he can be used not every day
Now we do hope Ender can be the 3 to 4 WAR guy he was before injuries the last two yrs
Maybe another low cost sign for org depth but man this is a great off season with the right moves made
Lizzo can sing Good as Hell, in AA's case he can sing Shrewed as Hell, man if only the post season bugaboos can get done, the 25 yr wait can be over
Now keep the #$%@ Chop, don't let the PC crowd intimidate us in Braves Nation 00 $#*@ U Helsley you are in for it, hope our hitters his the Shrit out of him when he faces Braves Nation and he is turned into the piece of Feces he is

Another nad smasher was game 4 of the 2005 series against the Astros. Once we blew the 6-1 lead in the 8th I was 100% we were going to lose, it was just a matter of time. That 2001 NLCS series vs the D Backs was one we beat ourselves in the kick the can defense - given the errors made And 2003 vs the Cubs, that was one coulda woulds shoulda, the first team in 95 yrs that lost a post season series to the Cubs. Should have had 4, we should have three peated from 95 to 97 (I still think we were better than that GD Marlins team) and one of those yrs in 2002 and 2003. And in 2010, that was one series that was kicked away - thank you Brooks Mr Error Conrad.

Rusin,Solarte,Hechavarria,Ozuna,Hernandez the elation is soaring and intoxicating None of it breaks the long term budget Braves are not that cheap anymore, as long as its not a 4 or 5 yr commitment to older vets The Melvin Upton and Uggla contracts are not going to be repeated - cannot blame em

You know what, I fully endorse this signing. It never occurred to me Ozuna would be available on a 1-year deal ... All things considered, I prefer this to the ~4 year deal I was advocating for with Castellanos.
I saw it written somewhere, but also noticed that Ozuna's statcast data is indeed elite, which implies he's been really unlucky the last 2 years. Perhaps AA is shrewdly betting on that bounce-back to the mean, and Ozuna's elite batted-ball profile turning back into more XBH and less outs.
For 1 year, I'm all over it. That allows us to decide if Riley is the real deal or not, which allows us to really evaluate how we want Waters, Riley, and Pache to all fold into our future team, and which ones we might want to trade.
Best GM we've had in a long time.

Rusin,Solarte,Hechavarria,Ozuna,Hernandez the elation is soaring and intoxicating There's no risk at all in Rusin, Solarte, or King Felix. Hech did a great job for us last year, and Ozuna is a 1-year pillow deal. We keep ALL of our prospects. Seems like pretty good management to me.

After watching Ozuna do mean things to us in the series last fall, this move is actually getting me pumped up for this season. Imagine if Riley figures the bat out at 3B or Camargo gets back to 2018 form.

Cubs expect Riley, Waters, and Wright + for Bryant, an injury prone guy who is admittedly a very good hitter, but not much of a 3rd baseman? Yeah, we could do that and get all kinds of headlines on ESPN.

Won't disagree, it is pretty sensible management. But everything looks hotter from an 8 degrees view
