Man, some of these bloggers just act as if the Braves threw away a sure World Series victory by passing on Donaldson. It's strange to me. You'd think he was Chipper Jones in his prime, and he's not. Chipper produced an OPS over .1000 in 3 consecutive years at 34, 35, and 36 years old. Badhaircut has never done that. Sorry for the rant, but some of these guys are just over the top. I hope Riley can fulfill his promise this year and make them all look like the fools they are. it hurts us huge if we do not land a cleanup hitter we are a.500 team no very little chance of making playoffs with a Cleanup hitter we are in the running for a title So we just need to add a 15 WAR cleanup hitter.

I do agree that we need another bat, though, and I think we'll get one.

I'm extremely confident that it'll be added to the new CBA, after the lockout. I also expect the Union to get years of control down to 4 or 5 years. What I'm most curious about is what the Owners will get out of it.

Not bad as all hey he is close to a one WAR player and that is useful for a glove first back up infielder who can play both middle infield positions You need depth guys, and he knows his role at this stage in his career He does have a very low career OBP but no one ever thought of him as an offensive force I expect a couple of more low budget signs, cause I don't think they will pay what it takes to get a Castellanos or Ozuna - I do not think they want to give multiple yrs - its the time on the contract I think the powers that be will balk at

If they can get someone for one yr, they will get someone, but yea, the money can be saved for later and the solution might be in house if Riley really comes around You can't forget what he did when he first came up, there is talent there I do have some questions about the rotation, in part cause we really do not know what we get out of Hamels and which Folty will stand up, so if some things do not work out there there will be flexibility to get someone to help if need be And Newcomb - how will he be in the return to the rotation? The lineup issues are not that bad, waiting is not a bad thing

It's a pretty big advantage for AL teams, especially signing older free agents. We probably keep Donaldson if the NL has the DH, because it eliminates so much risk.

We probably keep Donaldson if the NL has the DH, because it eliminates so much risk. That wouldn't have influenced me since his previous injuries were leg related. If you can't run the bases you can't DH and maybe you can't even hit for that matter period. He was in the AL when he had those issues and he couldn't DH then. My bigger fear anyway with him is the likely odds that he'll struggle catching up to the fastball. I know he had problems at times this year with breaking stuff, that coupled with players tendencies to struggle with the fastball after their prime years creates a real issue with his expected performance level in my opinion. And his K rate has already gone way up the last three seasons.

it hurts us huge if we do not land a cleanup hitter we are a.500 team no very little chance of making playoffs with a Cleanup hitter we are in the running for a title So we just need to add a 15 WAR cleanup hitter. OK I'll explain my reasoning we gained 7 games with Donaldson. So without him we lose 7 and go back to 2018 with less production from Catcher. But the BP should help. But in 2018 none of the NL East teams were as good as they are now. I think as we stand today we are not as good as 2018 and everyone else is better I also think from a mental level if AA does nothing else the team will mentally step back because they will feel let down and will feel they need to push to replace JD and guys will struggle. Freeman will feel pressure to hit 50HR and Acuna too just to make up for loss of power. And while you hate Ozuna the players remember what he did to them in the playoffs and it would give them a boost of energy to think he will do that for them if they make the playoffs plus him being Hispanic will be a huge plus with our younger players
