This is mediocrity at all levels. Who cares how it is communicated. Suzuki and Camargo are being replaced with historically, physically broken players. So far AA has been outmaneuvered. I think the team will still be fun to follow. They may even be competitive.
Personally I wish to see the prospects elevated to mlb. To heck with over-paid veterans. Bring'm up and let'm play.

I suppose that’s one way to look at it. Another way to look at it is that AA knows what he wants and he isn’t going to mortgage the future in order to get it. Just read that the Braves’ offer to Michael Brantley was very close to what he accepted from the Astros. Read that he tried to work a deal for JTR. Read he called in on Haniger and Kluber and Bauer. Not to mention other rumors I’ve heard all winter. He hasn’t been just sitting there doing nothing.

Probably more wishful thinking than reality, but I'm still hoping that AA will swoop in during the eleventh hour and sign either Keuchel or Kimbrel. Either player would help improve the pitching staff, either the rotation or the pen. We have made three moves this offseason and they have all been lineup-related (JD, McCann, and Kakes). The pitching has not been addressed at all, other than the new pitching coach (which I think will be big in and of itself). I know we have a lot of young options, but they are still unknowns. Relying heavily on them while trying to fend off a much improved division could prove to be a tall order.

I'm not complaining with what he's (not) doing, but damn.......it's BORING!! The Braves haven't even had a slightly interesting rumor practically all winter. They talked like there would be a lot of action. There's been almost none aside from Markakis (yawn) since Thanksgiving.

Once the JD signing happened I didn't expect much more after that, it was a lot of money.

I am not sure that AA views his mission statement as "Making the off-season exciting for the fans".
I also wouldn't say that Camargo has been replaced as long as he is still on the roster. I prefer to see it as AA has opened up opportunities to utilize his versatility to benefit the team even more.

Dude come on. Don't act like adding Donaldson didn't greatly improve our lineup. It also allows us to replace Markakis or Swanson with Camargo if needed.

If we end up on the outside looking in this year, I don't think it will be because of our hitting or defense. It will be the pitching that fell short. I just think we are asking a lot of too many young arms.

The off season has been a bore but don't blame the GM's -- and Alex can only do with Mc Guirk and the company he works for allows him to do
He also cannot delve into the ITL market for players for another couple of yrs
Blame certain players for asking ridiculous long term contracts that they are not worth or there would be more signings
Not just Harper and Manny, but Kimbrel, Kuechel and maybe even Gio are asking for too much for too long
There are some other decent players without teams -- hey, the GM's are beating agents like Borass at their game as far as I am concerned the above mentioned players can just rot. Take it or leave it, the game will go on without you.

Healthy, you are spot on on JD, but note the time missed the last 2 yrs But I am on board with the one yr gamble, can't blame AA for being so careful with prospects after what Manfred took away from us And, note we did not get a first round pick last yr -- hope that mistake in negotiations is not made this time around - they have to maximize the 9th and 21st pick

They were asking for contracts for 5 (Dallas K ) and Kimbrel was asking for 6 Seems they continue to be stubborn and uncompromising The Braves are not the only team that are passing on that - I am tired of all of these guys -- as previously stated -- LET THEM ROT Dallas K was not that great last yr and Kimbrel has some trouble with his command - other teams have noticed too. This hot stove season has sucked more than last yrs -- teams are drawing the line & these agents keep pushing for more than these scrums are worth -- they all deserve to have bad years holding out for this long -- the business of the game sucks

I blame LM and McGuirk. They've set a standard of cheap assedness that the rest of baseball is following.
