Patrick Weigel will be back next year and could be a very solid arm in the pen.
If we do not trade Wisler or Sims at the deadline then both need to be working in relief exclusively. We are at the point where too many high end guys need MLB innings and scrubs need to be cut from the 40 man... If we are going to end up trading the next Wainwright then let’s at least get them to the majors. The value gap for a top pitching prospect in the minors vs one who has shown a few months of pitching adequately at the MLB level is massive. A package with Newk for Degrom or Thor would take much less than one with Wright.

30 minutes before the deadline passes we will announce we have traded Kyle Mueller for AAA catcher prospect Fern Bluberry, and re-signed Danny Santana to a minor league contract. Snit will announce how Bluberry will provide much needed catching depth as the dog days of summer continue, and how excited we are to have Santana's versatility waiting down at AAA for our September call-ups.

Braves have traded for former Brave Jonny Venters. Decent move, I guess, if his arm doesn't fall off. Time to give Sam his walking papers.

We added him for something we can’t even use. Good move AA.

I remember us mentioning in this tread how Pollock would be a great free agent to sign. He was the best player in the league for a little while this season. Now his OPS is under .800. He had a .518 OPS in August and a .558 OPS so far in September. His post all-star break OPS is .647. I was questioning previously whether he was a good signing or not. Now he really has to sign at the right price in order to make it worth it for the Braves. No large demands from a 1.7 fWar player.

For some reason tweets haven't been showing up recently for me on here. DOB was asked about Realmuto and he essentially said that the Braves could have an excellent offseason by both trading for Realmuto and spending on a marquee free agent. No doubt Realmuto would be better than Suzuki. That said, I'm not willing to give up would it take to complete that trade. Suzuki has been a serviceable player for us and I would continue that partnership if he is willing to re-sign. I am hesitant to rely almost solely on the maturation of players already on the roster. However, that would be preferable to trading for Realmuto. Gausman has been a great pick up regardless of today's performance. The Braves didn't trade much for him. If the Braves are going to trade for a catcher (or really any player in general right now) they should be trying to get players in that mold rather than paying full price for someone such as Realmuto.
I'm still also somewhat worried about the ability of the farm system to produce many good major league players. The Braves have called up so many players as of late. They don't need reinforcements now. The future is a different story. We of course have the international penalties to deal with. I would like to trade for prospects if we ever get the opportunity. I certainly do not want to trade Pache and what's left of the talent in the minor league system.

I don't like McCann's recent numbers and he isn't getting any younger. We'd be living in the past if we brought him back IMHO. I'd much prefer Suzuki.
