It kind of sounds that the Dodgers or Angels are willing to give FF the extra year he’s looking for. Well that’s what they are saying locally. Locally? Are you in So Cal? just curious that is all And I would in no way be surprised if they offer the 6 yrs he wants, in fact I would not be surprised if they (one of those So Cal teams) go one more and make it 7. That takes it to age 38 and its not crazy to think he can be productive over that time. If they offer that I say grab it. FF owes us nothing. I will still want to retire number 5 no matter what. Around here in ATL I have not heard much. Its more football talk with a little ATL United season getting under way. We are still in Dawg heaven for now and should be. Hey overall we are still a bit giddy about the Braves WC. Truth is we have no idea for now and nothing much can be done for now. I am surmising that we might have to go to plan B whatever it will be. Its all 50/50 to me for now. Yes I live here in So Cal like 15 miles away from Dodgers stadium and about 22 miles away from Angels Stadium. The Dodgers fans here want FF badly. That he will make the difference in going to the WS again.

Of course he should help but man that nothing but sucks for us if they get the business done. Guess that would be their revenge for this past year, perish the thought but its all darn big business. The team many of us HATE the most. Man perish the thought. With all they have spent they should have a run of multiple WC. I hope to live long enough to see them not be good again, I miss the Mc Court family ownership of that team they were irrelevant around that time. Just being a LAD hater that is all

I kinda feel bad for Angels fans, they are relevant only in the off season
One post season appearance since 2009. Brutal, the Royals and Pirates have more than that they are a large market purgatory

Brutal, the Royals and Pirates have more than that they are a large market purgatory I want to feel bad for Trout being one of the greatest ever and being stuck with that organization, but he's made his choice to stay there so there's that. I'm sure they promised him they'd put good players around him and they've spent money trying to do that, it just goes to show how important the intangibles and team chemistry are. Which is why I say we need to sign Fred. We have the chemistry that teams have desperately tried to buy for 50 years and failed.

By the way I was really glad to see Freddie end up with the ball on the last out of our victory, I sure hope he hung onto that and will keep it the rest of his life.

There’s just something wrong with the thought of not having Freddie yet having Ozuna come Opening Day. But I’m getting the sense that this is a strong possibility. Smh

We've always been against keeping players with character issues, we should not let money dictate a change in that philosophy. We took a beating in the Hector Olivera situation, we should not change our thinking just because of money. And I don't want anyone to say yeah, but Ozuna is a better player than Olivera. That shouldn't enter into it. You draw the same line for character for all of your players.
Olivera was hit with a misdemeanor charge for assault and battery. Ozuna was originally slapped with two felony charges. Which eventually magically were dropped. And now the judge is announcing that the misdemeanor charge Ozuna is facing will be dropped if he completes a 6 month program. And that will be dropped to a 3 month program if he completes everything within the three month period. So how does one go about completing a 6 month program in 3 months? It's 6 months for a reason. Jesus.
For comparison, we traded Olivera on July 30th, 2016 and he was convicted on September 8th. We didn't wait around to see if he was found guilty or not. Why would this philosophy change now? We should do the same thing we did before, we find a bad contract somewhere else, and we take the hit and we move on. Ozuna would actually be pretty easy to trade because a few teams will be willing to look past his character and take a chance that he'll bounce back as a player.

I certainly hope you are right. I’ve heard the suggestion of an Ozuna for Madbum trade. Not sure if the Dbacks would do that but that would work for me.

So........if the Braves were to keep Ozuna (I don't think they will, and hope they don't because of the bad publicity if nothing else), you'll just turn off a lifetime of rooting for a team that easily? What if he really has changed? People make mistakes, man. After all, he's a very young man, and young men tend to be more temperamental than us old farts. You do remember that Bobby Cox was involved in a similar situation at a much older age, don't you? Why is his case different from Ozuna's? I mean, he was the manager, for chrissakes. How much punishment is enough for Ozuna? Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending him at all, just curious what your thoughts are.
