We will get to 79-79 and then lose the final 4 would fall in line with the theme of the season. Hit the 500 wall and stumble 3-4 steps back. Frustrating season, but it is what it is at this point.

Where is Acuña? He still can't make it to a game or anything? I'm not terribly familiar with the rehab progression of his type of injury. I just know it takes a year or so to completely recover. You'd think they'd have him on a zoom call or something.

I would be surprised to see him back before June.. I think we need to expect at least a couple of months without him next year.

They were around .500 with Acuña, what will they be without him? 75 wins? One of my worst takes on this board, and there are many of em i spouted out that were utterly asinine.

There were much worse takes than that.
That was based on the roster as it was with no way of knowing that AA could completely rebuild an entire outfield with the caliber players he was able to acquire.

I was the last person saying we were still going to win 87 games and the division right up to the day he got hurt, and when he got hurt I threw in the towel that day. But there was no way of predicting the players we added and how well they each performed.

Yeah to be forced to try to make things happen on short notice like AA was, and for him to actually make the moves in short time that he did was absolutely remarkable.

What was way worse than the take that we would end up as a .500 team was the 137 takes in game threads that games were over the moment we got behind or one bad thing happened.

"Well, that's it, this game is lost."

There was a lot to be negative about up until that 9-game winning streak, that's for sure. After that, the one time I really got negative was game 5 of the World Series (although Will Smith about drove me nuts on several occasions). I really thought game 5 would do us in, and that Houston would smoke us in games 6 and 7. Needless to say, I had never been so happy to be wrong!

I didn't say too much before game 6 because I didn't want to jinx anything, but I felt super confident that day that we were going to win. I didn't feel that way the night we lost game 5, but after the day off I started feeling it coming. I did say in the game 6 tread way before the game started that our guys had faced so much adversity and dealt with it so many times, and being such a good road team, that we were going to take care of business that night.

You did. You most certainly did. I felt the opposite. When you think about it, though, we practically gave them game 5. I mean, it's not like they destroyed our best pitchers or anything, so there was no reason to read a whole lot into game 5.

Losing that game the way we did was just asinine. But I think our players have learned to deal with that and not let it beat them down. They've become really good at not letting losses bother them period, no matter what the reason for the loss was. Plus we had Max going, and I have felt with increased belief that he is a winner and destined to be elite and he was going to come through. Not many pitchers could have gone into Houston and did what he did in game 6, and I think the whole team had confidence in him. He had two bad outings in a row before that, but it happens, and I really thought he'd come back and give us a strong outing in game 6.
