I don't think we would have to eat Inciarte's contract. Come the deadline the pro-rated remainder would be small enough that someone who needed him for any reason would be able to swallow it, especially if all are asking for is an organizational depth piece and the remaining salary relief.
It may be better to leave Camargo down as well, but he's already proven he can rake AAA pitching and we haven't been able to do anything with him. Maybe if he is told we want to give him a chance with another organization, maybe he can get past his Braves MLB mental block? I honestly just grasp at straws with what to do with him.

We're screwed for a while. A year is generally the best case scenario for an ACL. I don't know that Waters and/or Pache will feel pressure if it's handled correctly. I'm just thinking about my selfish enjoyment of seeing them play everyday to try and find a silver lining, maybe. I don't know. Frack it is all I know for sure, because we just went from a team that still could have had a good second half to one with no chance. Too risky if they are not ready (they're not), and I don't care about watching them suck while destroying their confidence just so I can talk about how unready they are for the next 2 and half months. Plus since when do the Braves handle things correctly and what could they even do to handle it correctly? I am content to let them continue to develop and then get them some MLB at bats when the season is over and there is zero pressure.

Oh, I know they're not ready, but does it necessarily destroy their confidence? Seems that depends on the player. Destroying their trade value is probably the bigger concern, and that's the last thing we need to do right now, too. I don't understand the thinking in not bringing Camargo up, though. He's the best guy we've got down there. What signal are you sending the players if you keep him down now?

I just don't see anyone paying Ender even $2.86M for 58 games to be a defensive substitute in the late innings. That's what I come up with as far as games left and salary he'd be owed. That's a lot of money for such a small contribution.
I would think that Camargo already realizes that's what he's been doing this whole year, so I don't know if that incentive would help him get past the whole mental situation or not if he finished the year in Atlanta. It's hard to say what's best....my initial assumption is that they'll just play Ender now and look for a wire player to be a backup and leave Camargo with Gwinnett. I would guess the 2nd option is bring Camargo up and let him play the OF and let whatever happens happen, it's not like we're going anywhere now anyway. The one option I really don't want to see is us trade even Kyle Wright or Wilson or anyone else to try to get a band aid to try to keep us hanging on for this season. The one exception of course being Marte because we could get him cheap and he'd be a rental that we would have an option on to try to re-sign or not.

The one scenario I could think of there is if they have someone interested in Camargo before the deadline and they feel like the trade would benefit them for the future. Camargo won't be in the future, so if you can get anything you think would help you down the road then I wouldn't mess with screwing that up. If that was the case they should just try to do it now rather than wait for the deadline if at all possible. Especially if it was an outfielder. You could create a package depending on how good of an OFer it might be.

In some positive news, there were no other ligaments or further structural damage to Acuña's knee. The surgery and recovery should be pretty straight forward.
I was reading around the interwebs regarding the Acuña injury, and man there is a lot of dumb out there!

The team will continue to play hard and try to win, but the cold hard reality is that we cannot overcome such a devastating loss. That being said, I think it is imperative that AA make a trade with Pittsburgh for Reynolds. Not because he will make a huge impact this year, but because we are fielding a team for the rest of this year AND the beginning of 2022 with zero true Major League outfielders. We don’t need to rebuild, but we do need to retool for 2022. IMO, Reynolds would be a great start.

I think it starts with either Riley or Anderson and then at least one of Waters, Pache, Wilson or Muller. That’s not what I’d call a retool. Reynolds Is one of the best players in baseball and he’s young and cost controlled. We’re not getting him with a gaggle of so-so players/prospects. Every team in baseball would like to have Reynolds, Pittsburgh has no reason to trade him unless someone makes a huge offer.

We’ll sure, now ask why in the world Pittsburgh would do that? They’d get way better offers if they fielded offers for Reynolds. I don’t think anyone would ever trade one of the best players in the game who is young and cost controlled without getting at least one player back who has proven he’s going to be at minimum an average MLB and some really high ceiling prospects. The trade you’re proposing is what you can get if Reynolds was an aging highly paid veteran on the tail end of his useful days.

I don't think we have the elite level of prospects to offer for Reynolds. Due to his beginning to enter his prime yrs and being controllable till what, 2025?
Reynolds is the kind of guy who should still be good when the guys in that system begin to jell together and be part of the next good Pittsburgh team again.
And in that division, its doable in a reasonable period of time, they could be good in a couple of yrs. Note that the bigger market teams there (Cubs and even the Cardinals to a degree) might be going into a retool in the Cubs case it looks like a full scale rebuild.
So there is opportunity there even during the time Reynolds is under control. If I am Pittsburgh Reynolds to me is like Freddie Freeman to us
They did have a good 3 yr run a few yrs ago. Its not impossible even though they have one of the lowest payrolls in the game and their ownership has been considered cheap.
I do agree with Uck about trying for Marte all AA has to do is try and see what he can put together - trades are hard

If they choose not to re-sign Freddie, I would rather have the compensatory draft pick for losing Freddie than move him for a return of 5 garbage prospects. Or, a mediocre major leaguer.
Example - the Manny Machado return the Orioles got. That was a bunch of junk
And remember the pixs poor return we got in the second Texiera trade. Would have taken my chances with the compensation pick.
We sure do not need a singles hitting first baseman. (Kotchman reference)
I don't want to sell Freddie unless there is some overwhelming deal out there and that is not likely for a pending FA every day player

I think people need to give up in Starling Marte.
Mattingly and the Marlins would rather take a bath in boiling oil than to help us. Any competitive deals out there with us and other teams, and they are going to choose "other teams".
To trade with us they would demand a rape, and we wouldn't ever want to give them the rape they desire that would help them beat us for years to come.

I think if ii was a bigger trade they would avoid dealing with us, but a rental who is likely not going to make much difference is another thing. They claim they aren’t throwing at Acuna on purpose, this trade would be nice P.R. move for them. They know they won’t get much for Marte so they need to just take the best deal.
