The #Braves today recalled RHP Freddy Tarnok to Atlanta and selected INF Ryan Goins to the major league roster. In order to make room on the roster, the club placed C Chadwick Tromp on the 10-day injured list, backdated to August 14, with a strained left quadricep. The club also designated LHP Daniel Young for assignment after optioning him to Triple-A Gwinnett following last night’s game. Hopefully we won’t need him, but I feel a lot better about throwing Goins in the IF in an emergency than Eddie Rosario. |

Remember Travis Demiritte? He hit like .290 at Gwinnett last year, .940 OPS and 146 wRC+. After going back to Gwinnett this year he’s hitting .210 with a .680 OPS and 73 wRC+. Pretty unreal. I think something about being up here fried his brain. |

I think something about being up here fried his brain. After tearing up AAA pitching all of last season he came up to Atlanta the last week of April this year and after three weeks of playing every day was at .327/.387/.527/.914 in the big leagues. Like yeah, I got this.
Then he went something like 0-33 and he's just been toast ever since. To the point now he can't even hit minor league pitching. Crazy stuff. Just a total loss of confidence or focus or whatever the heck could cause something this extreme. It's funny that I brought him up today and then he got DFA'd.

Sad, but it seems that 0-33 or whatever really broke him. Did we have to dfa him to clear a spot on the 40 man roster in order to get Giles on it?
Seems like a nice guy... maybe he can fix it and continue his career.

Seems like a nice guy... maybe he can fix it and continue his career. It's a move I'd sure like to see. We've been willing to take flyers regularly on a lot of players, this is one I think would be worth giving it a shot.
He's free to sign with anybody now, and it would make sense he should be most interested in a team that has a legit chance to win it all--how many teams in that category need a RHP for their pen?
From our perspective, what's not to like about this:

Liberty Media is stepping up and good for them, with this 5-10 year window of opportunity for us to be legit contenders every year I'm thrilled to see them willing to lock all these great core players up.
It gives us a chance one of these days to catch up to the rebuild the Faillies did!!!

I'd say there is a 100% chance we see Jay Jackson in either the 8th or 9th inning or in extra innings either tonight or Sunday night. It's what we do. As soon as we add any reliever it's automatic you throw him into the highest possible leverage spot the very first game he appears in. It's in the organizational policy manual.

The Braves have called up infielder Rylan Bannon to fill the roster spot of Ozzie Albies. Albies was placed on the 10 day IL, but is likely done for the rest of the regular season.
