David O'Brien @dobrienatl Replay of Ynoa appears to show him grabbing lower back just above hip, but no announcement yet from #Braves so don't take that diagnosis as anything more than me staying at Holiday Inn Express.

Don't think he will be back next yr. For starters the OF should be projected to be Acuna and the two kids. Nick will be back even if it's supposedly as a bench player.
I hate to bag on him because I like him and I do respect his professionalism, and his ability to hit line drives. In another day and age that would have been a lot more valuable than it is in modern baseball.
But if you'll look just at OPS, which to me is a really good stat because it tells us how much a guy gets on base and how much power he hits with (and doubles do count as "power" in OPS), Nick ranks 78th in OPS among outfielders since he came to us in 2015. Throw in his lack of coverage in the OF and lack of an arm, and I just don't see why we should be happy settling for this, we could do a lot better without breaking the bank.
I agree. I've always thought OPS was the best hitting stat there is, especially regarding power/hitting the ball hard. If Nick was a speed guy, his offense would be acceptable. As it is, he's basically a throwback type of player.

I could see him maybe being a player/coach in this org But I am not so sure how he would do as a bench player, say you bring back Duvall as the combo OF/DH, have Acuna and the two kids as regulars and Ender as your 4th OF, (lets assume he might be totally healed from injuries from last yr) & I really believe last yrs injuries and maybe even the interruptive season has had an effect on him, maybe the Braves go in the direction of a traditional bench player and Nick moves on to another place We disagree on his overall OF play - do not want to keep going on and on with it. Since we are likely to go with the two kids, obviously we are not breaking the bank As previously said, Ozuna, like Donaldson, I think he is a great one yr sign for us and some other team will overpay - so be it. If we can get him back as full time DH, hey bonus. OPS -- yes, OPS is a good stat but it really leans too favorably toward your HR hitters, and the way this game has gone the HR is not as special as it used to be What I do not like about everything going toward OPS is its taking the Juan Pierre, Matty Alou, Willie Wilson kind of player out of the game, to me that is something I grew with that has been taken away. Get em on, get em over and get em in, part of the game that made this fun. That you did not have to hit the ball 410 feet to play this game. But cannot change the way these IVY league suits have changed the game.

SINGLE for FF overslides 2nd OUT That was a boneheaded decision to begin with. Since it's Freddie, I'll let it slide, though. Pardon the pun.

Well, I am a throw back type of fan so I guess I will always get push back on how I view the game I cannot change, that is what is in my blood, and I hope to die a throw back Now if we could only get some throw back kind of managers like Dallas Green, Billy Martin, Earl Weaver, Dick Williams, Gene Mauch. That is back in the days the dugout manager would snap back and tell these saber nerds and skinny Ivy League suits to go to heaven and take that #$*# U turn

Even the best and smartest can make a mistake so yea, let it slide. I sure hope Ynoa is gonna be allright, this kid just might have a future Wasn't he the guy they got for Jamie Garcia at the deadline in '17 if I remember right?

OPS is a power hitting stat, not a catch all. Neck is a right fielder, which is a spot where power is expected more so than most, so I think it's fair to judge Neck's offense on that. He's had a nice career and made a lot of money. Good for him. I just hope his career in Atlanta is nearing its end is all. He's the type of guy that a young rebuilding team can use, but the Braves are contenders, and we need better.

It was just "realized" later. There's a bunch of stats that I have an issue with (and I have a degrees in math and software engineering so I'm predisposed to stats) because I played through college and independent ball (was never, at any point, good enough to even think I was going to make it TBC) and just feel like they don't tell the whole story.

As it is, he's basically a throwback type of player. He was a force early in his career because he hit for some power too, then the game changed and he stopped hitting for power.
And that's not all that he's lacking at this point.
I'm not on Snitker so much for using him the way he has this year, things kind of got pushed that way. And I'm ok with Nick being a bench bat in the future, if he would truly get used that way.
