He's 29 and only thrown more than 126 innings in the big leagues only one season. He's been good but he's only pitched 500 innings in the big leagues. I'm not trading those kind of prospects for him. Well, if he'd cut his hair.............

On a side note........... www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/01/orioles-to-sign-jose-iglesias.htmlThis guy's a decent player, but he can sing like a bird. The Orioles expect a huge increase in female attendance in 2020. This is his 4th team. Rumor has it he'll be releasing a single soon entitled "To All The Teams that I've Played For". Industry analysts expect it to be a monster hit worldwide.

I read in another forum that MLB radio was saying now the price for JD is $110M. Hello, Mr. Ozuna's agent, we would like to offer your client a deal...

Even if it takes $110M we will sign JD.
I wouldn't touch Ozuna with a ten foot pole, I'd prefer Castellanos but it's all moot anyway, we'll be signing JD at whatever the cost ends up being. $100M, 104, 110, whatever it takes.

Good luck JD! We barely knew ya...............Isn't that more than Harper makes? Yep...Harper's AAV is 25.38 per year for 13 YEARS! JD's would be 25.5 for 4 years. Of course Arenado is getting 32.5 per. I just hope the Braves are able to defer some of the last year or two to spread out the impact.

I've never really understood the waiting around, but that's obviously just me. I mean, if I were in that position, I'd be thinking "damn, I need to sign asap. If I get hit by a truck tomorrow, I got nothin'". Yeah, they have insurance, but I would think it pales in comparison to $90-$100 million. Geezus.......

I don’t remember reading anywhere that the Braves passed on him. Oh well then I guess we signed him and I missed that. Ya, cause all teams have to do is offer a contract and they get the player.

Oh, ya, the Braves would give him $110. They’ve blown past last years payroll, what’s another few million more?

The truth is he may have signed with us for $70M for all we know but maybe we never made an offer--we have no way of knowing either way. My point was he was a hell of a lot cheaper than JD will be and fit more of a need by far. Including hitting behind Freddie.

If we look at it like that, for all we know the Braves offered a competitive offer and Grandal’s agent never called back because he needs to play ST in Arizona; which the ChiSox do. Happy wife, happy life. He clear would have been cheaper, tho.

So even if we would have had to pay $80M to actually get him, I think it would have been a lot better option.
I'm not even trying to say I'm being rational, it just sticks in my craw because I thought Grandal was the way to go all along. We needed a catcher really badly, worse than a 3B, and he covered the spot behind Freddie too. And would have been cheaper than JD.
I just think it sucks that to me Grandal was a better fit for our needs and somebody else got him for what could be $37M less than we sign JD for.

Donaldson's stock has taken a big hit since I released my study on how stiff he is. He'll be lucky to get a contract at all now.
