Hey they gotta bring somebody in, this is JTR's last year with them.
Maybe they can sign Horacio Ramirez to take Sixto Sanchez's spot too.

Are you guys open to taking a chance on Puig? I've never cared for him, but I really think it might be a worthwhile risk on a 1-year deal. If he were to come back alive, we'd have something, and if not, we haven't lost much. Snitker might be just what he needs. Then again.........well, it's Puig.

Speaking for myself, nooooooooooooooo way. He's become pretty much an average hitter and a bad outfielder, and may be the biggest headcase in the history of sports.
I wouldn't want him anywhere near our clubhouse.
If Puig could have been helped he would have found somebody by now that could have done it, in my opinion. He's been around enough veteran presents already and it's not making a difference.

Nope nope nope, that’s too far. 4 years and 100 mil was already too much but a better option than Bryant or any other trade. I say stay out with what we have.

The more I think of it, the more I hope we just stick with Riley at 3B and find an upgrade in the OF.

Totally agree. I think we got lucky to get the year out of JD that we did, it's possible he could fall apart and/or regress as quickly as this season. I would not take this risk, eff him and let's figure something else out, there's plenty of options. I still think worst case we can trade pieces like Inciarte and/or Camargo (if we're giving up on him) and a maybe a mid level prospect and get a good 3B if we're going to insist on going that route. Hell the Cubs are high on Inciarte, they should be thrilled to trade Bryant for Inciarte and Camargo alone with Bryant just having the two years left.

Besides, isn't signing him basically giving up on Riley? I see no reason to do that at this point. It seems everyone only remembers the Riley that struggled in the second half. Not saying he'll make it, he may not, but why give up on him now? If he can become our everyday 3rd baseman, the Braves can do anything they want at the trade deadline.

Between Riley and Camargo I like our chances of covering 3B ok. It just reeks of a weird desperation we don’t have to have. We can add a bat more sensibly if they insist we need it, but I’m ok without it. I haven’t given up on Riley.

Two years for $17.5M.
This guy is another mystery as to why we never considered him. Kind of poor defensively and can't hit lefties, but a combo of him, Riley and Duvall could cover LF nicely in a platoon, with Riley and Camargo also covering 3B, and use the JD money elsewhere. Dickerson has a career OPS of .866 and a wRC+ of 125 against RHP. A much better option than using Nick out there as a lefty hitter. In fact Dickerson is a better defensive player than Nick. More money, but not significant, and a much better player. Use the money somewhere else, even if it means adding a FA pitcher or power bat next year or the year after. I don't know, whatever!
