The only team in the division we have to really respect at this time is the Nats, they have the trophy to show for their money
As for the Muts and Phoolies, they are not performing to their payroll. They need to earn respect
No further comment on the Fish

My gut feeling is that JD is patiently waiting on the Braves to construct an offer that he can accept given the offers on the table. I think the Braves will come up with a creative offer good enough to sign him but who knows at this point. If it hasn't been stated here already, it's reported that JD is giving the Braves the chance to make a final offer against any other deal he receives, so if the Braves don't get JD it'll be because the Braves chose not to get him.

Really wish the Nats were not in on this driving up the price. Where the Rangers and others were comfortable was more in line with 3 year deals it sounds like.

Jon Heyman @jonheyman The Ryu derby includes 3 SoCal teams — Angels, Padres and incumbent Dodgers — plus Twins, Jays, possibly Phillies and of course the Mystery team. If the mystery team is the Braves it’s a short-lived mystery (though that’s just a guess).

Really? That's awfully expensive, and you know he'll be hurt when you need him most, not to mention that adding him would make 3 lefty starters, assuming you don't trade Fried.

He's a great pitcher when he's healthy, maybe we get lucky. He did pitch 182 innings in 2019.
As long as we're spending stupid money on aging players I'd rather spend $54M that $100M.

I think we should just agree to take Price and his salary, along with 2 or 3 of Boston's top prospects. You rebuild the farm for the cost of paying off Price, and maybe get some vintage pitching from him to boot 😁
Or better yet, just take Devers and the salary. 3rd base/power bat solved at the same price with a potential ace thrown in.

I think the Braves will only increase payroll if it’s to address 3rd base.

I think with the adjustment Camargo made he could hit 30 HR this season in full-time job I definitely think he is better than Markakis so I'd be fine with Ozuna, Camargo over JD and Markakis

Camargo has proven he can be a solid player, but he's not going to hit 30 HR's.

Camargo has proven he can be a solid player, but he's not going to hit 30 HR's. If he played every day I would expect 20-25, but I wouldn't rule out more than 25. He did hit 19 in 2018 with only 525 PA's. He's put on some size since then. He hit one 450' in August in Gwinnett.
But more important than HR's, he has great major league numbers in high leverage and RISP situations, even in 2019. To me that's more important for the middle of the order than a guy launching 30-35 HRs in a season.
Particularly because he does have some power and we also have enough power spread throughout the lineup.

I think the issue now in regard to JD is not how much the Braves need him, but how much do they want to keep the Nats from getting him.

I think the issue now in regard to JD is not how much the Braves need him, but how much do they want to keep the Nats from getting him. I'm guessing JD has some 4 year deals on the table, and is telling AA to match it. AA must be telling him 2 or 3 years, with an add'l club option and JD (and AA) are playing a game of chicken waiting to see who might blink first. In this case, JD can ink a 4 year deal of some sort with one or two teams. That is my take on what I read.

For the amount of money we're talking, the risk of injury and the likelihood of regression, they can have him. If it pans out for them then they got lucky but I'd rather have them take the chance at this point.
