Yet everyone is fine with moving on from Newk. We have 6 guys and basically 2spots open for say 2021 and Wright has been the worst of the six Who is this everybody that is fine with moving on from Newk? Where did you pull that from? Newk is going to be stretched out and given every opportunity to win and keep a spot in the rotation. If he does, then your 2 spots become 1 and we have as you noted a bunch of different guys we have invested time and resources into to fill that spot. Then we can also look at other avenues outside the current organization to fill one spot that also do not involve giving up Wright, Wilson, Touki, and Pache. I wouldn't do this and neither will AA.

I want to work a trade for Marte. He can play. Marte would be a great fit. We could have a Marte / Pache / Acuna OF which would be solid and much better than the current Markakis / Inciarte / Acuna setup.
Would still need to upgrade at C and possibly 3B, although I could live with Riley/Camargo at 3B.
Maybe trade for Marte and sign a guy like Castro to be the LH bat to pair with Flowers.
RF Acuna 2B Albies 1B Freeman LF Marte 3B Riley / Camargo SS Swanson C Castro / Flowers P CF Pache

Flowers.............geez. Unbelievable that he's the only catcher on our roster.

Gotta be Waters........maybe neither. Ozuna isn't a very good defender IIRC. I doubt we sign him. Will cost another draft pick if we do Yea I would be completely shocked if we signed him for this reason alone. Not to mention how inconsistent he is offensively. He has been a pain in the ass for fantasy baseball for some time now. If he added defense then that’s a different story.

Braves Add Five Players To 40-Man Roster
By Steve Adams | November 19, 2019 at 4:58pm CDT
The Braves announced Tuesday that they’ve selected the contracts of outfielder Cristian Pache, catcher William Contreras, right-hander Jasseel De La Cruz and lefties Tucker Davidson and Phil Pfeifer.

A good bullpen indeed but Martin is a free agent. Probably gonna get $12-$15M for 2 years. Ya, erred by naming Martin, but even taking him out, it’s a solid bullpen. Also, I’d venture a guess that the Braves could find an equally effective, less expensive, option to replace him. Braves just signed Martin 2 years $14M!

So last off-season the complaint was that AA didn't do enough to address the needs of the bullpen...this off-season it definitely seems to be the focus. They still need a catcher and probably a SP. I guess they're going to go with Riley/Camargo at 3rd. That leaves some pretty big holes in the lineup in terms of offensive production.

It definitely means that we're not gonna be yo-yo-ing our top pitching prospects between the pen and starting, IMO, and that's a good thing. Guys need to know their roles.
