with a big yr he will get Donaldson money next yr. Cincinnati has said they offered 4 yrs in the neighborhood of Mouse contract on Cincinnati sports radio If I were Cincinnati, I wouldn't be broadcasting that if it's true. That's embarrassing. Maybe Ozuna thought they meant they’d pay him the same as what Mickey Mouse makes.

You know, I like these one year deals where we have young guys coming up that we hope can be the long term solution, and not just because of the financial part (which is neither here nor there to me). I just LOVE seeing young guys come up and succeed. It's a big part of why I like the game as much as I do. No other sport has that. It's unique to baseball and a big part of what makes it special.

Braves actually considered signing both Ozuna and JD. It also looks like the payroll isn’t capped. Boys, LM is opening the pocketbooks!!! www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/.amp-braves/mlb/braves/news/braves-might-have-more-financial-flexibilityKey quotes... “There was a time, right when Donaldson was about to come off the board and sign, that we for about an hour or so talked about what if we got both,” Anthopoulos said in a Q&A with fans. “And I’m not trying to do a tease. But we wanted to be creative and said that four and five (spots) would be really nuts. So, we are always open-minded to doing things. And we are always going to try and be creative and always going to continue to add.” “I can tell you. I was talking to Terry McGuirk the other day. And obviously, we’ve done a lot so far this winter. Very supportive. He just told me the other day… he’s like, ‘Look, I want you to continue. If there is something else that you think is big and impactful and can continue to drive us forward and put us over the top, I want you to go for it. I want you to try and do it.’ I’m like, ‘Wow. I can just keep going and going?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah.’ It was exciting to hear.”

The value of a World Series Championship would easily offset payroll increases needed to get there, I think, and don't think for a second that Liberty Media wouldn't like their brand associated with that.

I was only joking about LM. They don’t care about anything to do with the Braves, as long as all news is good news. They literally do not care about the Braves. It’s an assent, one of hundreds that they have. Honestly, this is how crazy the situation is, the Braves, basically, own themselves. Ya, LM is the “owner”, but they have literally nothing to do with anything Braves related. The Braves are just part of their portfolio. Terry McGuirk functions as the owner of the Braves.

]I think they learned from the past-
Liberty went all in on Tex, JD to win NOW-crushed their future (meanwhile the angels show us just how valuable a compensation pick is). Uggla, Melvin, and trade for Justin- failed. Even if we won a championship, it’s all about what have you done for me lately to generate revenue of butts in the seats.
IMO Liberty is on the same page with the fans whether we realize it or not. Suntrust is closer to their base with an amazing fan experience. The battery is asset they own that is getting paid off rapidly, win win. Longterm success yields revenue for sure but also helps strengthen a valuation of the team. They bought a dynasty turned dud, sure all teams became more valuable over they years but not from their own doing in most cases. In order to sell high one day (trust me they can find another tax incentive company to buy) they need to appear in October for years to come and avoid the “win now” mentality.

I’m a bit confused by your post because LM didn’t make those trades, didn’t even approve them.

Kobe Bryant talk has been moved to the Anything but baseball sports section. Where no one will see it.

So your opinion is that I just need to shut that forum down?
I've also started one in the news forum.
If no one wants to go to these other forums to talk about things other than baseball or the Braves, then I will close them.

I just posted it here where people would be more likely to see it is all. I honestly don't have an opinion either way regarding those boards, because I've never used them.

Just curious. Much lower, which brings their viability into doubt... but do we want the Braves/baseball section to include the political, news, and whatever else that would inevitably result if we that was the only place to post. I don't think so. It's funny because I've received PM's with suggestions for other boards and fielded complaints when political commentary gets posted here. I really would like to encourage traffic to those other forums as it only broadens the site's appeal, and it's not really all that difficult a thing to do.. this clicking on another board.
