AA signing extensions with Albies and Acuna ---very impressive Best team friendly contracts in sports - seriously that was something else And by the time they play through those deals, that bad TV deal will be close to or expiring so they should be able to keep them depending on how things work out in a few yrs, but that is way down the line Hope Freeman is next on the extension list.

What did we learn from this tread? Not much. Just a reactionary going on a small sample size. Not signing Carter Stewart was a bit disappointing, but hell he's going to Japan now, so who cares. In the end we would up with maybe out young catcher of the future so the Carter Stewart think might be a blessing in disguise The best defensesive catcher is the draft, if he can hit league average that is a hell of a player Rather have Shane Mclanahan personally, then and now.

The TV deal isn't as bad as they've led us to believe.
They've said the payroll was going to go up for some time now. Didn't they say SunTrust Park was going to open with a higher payroll? Now it is in its third year of operation.
According to spotrac the Braves currently have the 14th highest payroll, but also essentially right at league average (very slightly below). This is all after the Braves said they were over budget after their acquisitions. They are probably right around their budget currently since Gausman is no longer being paid.

Interesting - and time will tell where they will go on payroll For sure the powers that be will negotiate a decent deal when the time comes & who knows who will own the team by then, LM does seem vested in borrowing for constructions costs to complete the battery, etc I do not see them spending on a big long term deal unless its one of our own guys, but I do see them going for short term sensible deals in FA, might not be a bad way to go. And with Alex, just because he does not spend in December does not mean he will not spend later, as we are seeing this yr

Big long-term free agent deals are bad business anyway, especially given the number of years it takes for players to reach free agency. More and more teams are figuring that out. The players made a horrible deal last time, and the owners aren't gonna give up their sweet deal easily, so I fully expect a strike after the current CBA expires on 12/1/21.

AA is the Fred Sanford of GMs he only buys other people's junk. And then he over pays for it. And his drafts have been horrible. And now after last night this team will start pressing. The offense feels they have to score 20 runs a game to win. The starters feel why even try I can throw 7 scoreless and be up by 6 and still not win. Last night was a dagger in the heart of this team. The only chance we have now to even make the playoffs is to undo every pitching decision AA has made. Tomlin, swarzek, Greene, Martin. And melecon they all need released. And we need to trust in what coppy did or even wren to right the ship. Bring up Burrows, Wright, Wilson, Davidson, and whoever else can throw strikes. Let them learn at Major league level. AA needs someone to take over talent evaluation for him. The man has made 1 good move his entire career and that was Donaldson and he did it twice.

Again... some people stand by "The Earth is flat" or "The holocaust never happened".
You said the team had taken a dagger to the heart and the only way to try and salvage anything was to immediately release Swarzek, Greene, Martin, and Meloncon.

[br And not one of those guys would I trust in a one-run game in the playoffs I would have rather traded the prospects we did and get one shutdown reliever then get three that has been shaky their entire career except for one half of the season I would say that Allard, and Wentz would have gotten Vasquez from Pittsburgh

Saying they all had to be cut was an inane comment.
Saying the team took a dagger to its heart was almost as bad.

Ya know I really don't want to sit around just trying to bust people's balls, but Jiminy Crickets I just don't understand the constant overreactions and resulting totally ridiculous comments.
I'm not a fortune teller and I don't know how the season will end, but I've heard that the team took a dagger to the heart about 40 times over the past two seasons because of single game losses. The notion that cutting 3 pitchers with a track record of recent success that we gave up decent prospects to get as the only solution to a temporary problem is beyond crazy.
The notion that a highly regarded former GM of the year type guy being a total hack that has never done anything right is just nuts.
