So, who would have been a better alternative for you for what the Braves would have realistically wanted to spend in terms of $$$$$ in FA or talent in what could have come back in a reasonable trade? I would have put Camargo or Riley in the OF and saved the money for a player that’s actually an improvement over what the Braves got out of Neck last year. Neck, a year older, isn’t gonna be better than the version of him from last season. But if you hold my feet to the fire, Joc Pederson, and platoon him with Duvall. Fair enough, I don't know what it would have taken to get Joc Pederson (a player I see as somewhat of an underachiever given that he was one of those hot shot prospects a few yrs ago) but that would be an interesting platoon. Its speculation how that woulda worked, but for sure you do have the HR power. And both are known as capable defenders, for sure we likely would have got a 30 plus HR from the position, the OBP a bit lower, etc. Interesting for sure - but the Braves took the safe bet & did not hamstring themselves with the money Remember how bad Duvall was for us, he was not doing well in Cincy and really did not get a fair amount of PT here so its not fair to judge him for that sample size And we still have Camargo and Riley for the future. I am interested to see just how much PT Camargo will get, Riley should be ready for 2020, and don't forget Culberson, last yrs surprise package. In 2020 we will get younger for RF.
