Only thing with Riley is that he strikes out at an alarming rate. Almost 40 percent in the majors. That's a lot of wasted at bats. Badhaircut has never struck out at even close to that rate. Riley has struck out at about a 28 or 29 percent clip in the minors, which is tolerable.

I’d gladly offer JD 3-years, $69 million, with a 4th year option at $23 million. Sorry, Riley, but the window is open and JD has been an important part of where the Braves currently are.
Biggest concern is potential injury. I have zero concerns about his bat or glove.

I could see a 2-year deal, but not three.

Don't think he gets more than that anywhere. He's at the age where he could get hurt a lot and/or see his production drop off drastically. As for Riley, I think he'll be fine and can handle left field. You don't just give up on a 22-year-old kid with that kind of power. He's got a lot to learn, but there's no reason to think he can't do that. He seems like a good kid who's a hard worker, so I think he'll get there.

He's got a lot to learn, but there's no reason to think he can't do that. He seems like a good kid who's a hard worker, so I think he'll get there. I think there are three things that make it to where I think someone like JD could get a 4 yr. deal. 1.) Sports science has improved dramatically over the last 10 years, which has resulted in some players being able to hold back Father Time and play a lot longer. Guys like Nelson Cruz and Adrien Beltre come to mind. It’s incumbent on the player, though, to be willing to put in the work, health wise, to do so, and I think JD is one of those types of players. 2.) MLB is screwing with the baseballs, allowing players to stay in their prime longer, and also allowing players past their prime to continue playing well. 3.) The DH will end up in the NL. It’s an inevitability. So, a guy like JD, would be able to continue to play everyday, but not have to deal with the wear and tear of playing defense the entire year. I could be wrong, of course, but I don’t think I am. Only time will tell. Also, I’m not ready to give up on Riley. I think he’d stay in LF, and the only way he’d be traded is if both Pache and Waters were crushing AAA and the Braves has to call them up. At that point, Riley may be expendable. Yes, the Braves would lose 5+ years of service time, but they’d have JD for 3 or 4 years, so his loss may not be felt.

Interesting to note that it wasn’t JD who came up with the umbrella celebration. He gave credit to Luke Jackson and Folty. Not hard to speculate that he’s a team favoriteand he likes playing for the Braves.
