I am all for going ahead and giving some guys in the Minors a shot before making any moves. Reed needs to Start from now till the deadline while Ender sits. Swanson needs to go away. Riley needs to see what he can do. Clouse looks can't miss give him a shot in the BP. give Josh Ravin another shot. give Wes Parsons starts not Max Fried. If we truly are better off rebuilding for future let us see what we have now. at least let's get started seeing. we have a lot of guys to pick through to find our Keepers. with all the young talent we have coming we should have to settle for being happy if Swanson is just league Average. We should be Aggressive !!!!

I remember a all glove SS we recently had that would “never hit” Mickey Moniak, Mark Appel, Luke Hochevar, Matthew Bush, Bryan Bullington, and Brady Aiken...How many of these guys do you want getting playing time over Riley and Camargo? All number1 overall players. And to compare Swansons Defense to Simmons is simply ridiculous. Swanson does not have 1 tool that is above average. And he is not a 20yr old he is what he is. he is not going to get better.

The Dodgers gave up 5, count em 5 prospects. Sounds like a good trade for the Orioles. The Dodgers gave up quantity for quality -- and they are a team that can and is willing to keep Manny long term Made sense for the Dodgers, if I were an O's fan I would not be happy with that return The only guy whom they got who projects to a solid MLB player is Diaz and he is not projected to be a star The rest of them are fringe MLB guys -- in the end what did the LAD give up

Look, I could write a 2000 word explanation about the title, but I can break it down much simpler. Three years ago, the Braves organization made the commitment towards a rebuild. They took nearly every asset they had and they traded them for prospects. The brought in some of the best analysts and scouts to rebuild the farm. For 3 consecutive years the Braves drafted better than, arguably, any other team. As a result, the Braves have had the best farm system in the game, even after the promotions of Folty, Newk, Albies, Swanson, and Acuna. When the year started, nobody envisioned the Braves would be a half game out of first at the all-star break. I can understand the belief that the Braves should strike while the iron is hot, but what the Braves have built is a system that could result in YEARS of contention. I would much rather see the Braves compete for the next 5 or 6 years than 1 or 2 years, by trading a bunch of their prospects for elite rental players, and with the news that the Braves didn't get Machado, it's clear that the Braves think the same way, and we should be happy about that. I know some of you hated the rebuild and now that the Braves are winning you want them to go all the way, future be damned, but if the Braves take that route, in a few short years you'll be back to whining and complaining again because the Braves won't be competitive. All the rentals will be gone, all the prospects will be gone, and the Braves will have to try to compete with the free agent market being their only way to field a competitive team. That's not sustainable, especially for a mid-market team like the Braves. The Braves made the right decision, no doubt about it. For the Braves, yes it was the right decision, because we know this ownership is not anteing up to sign this kind of guy long term For the Dodgers -- makes sense The Braves will have some $$$$$ to spend but we will see what they do this off season If they have another winter like this past off season the ownership should be called out for it -- we should not be a lower third payroll team anymore --- this is a top 10 market team in population in the metro area, TV potential, etc but that might be too much to ask from this ownership I hated more about the way they went about the rebuild with the personalities involved -- but that is old news they were less than honest about it and I am glad to see Hart gone more than anyone

Wonder what the Braves were offering for Machado -- we really do not know
Anyway, we have Riley in the pipeline anyway with Carmago being a servicable MLB SS -- as for the overrated Dansby -- guess they have these illusions he will be a better than league average player but he has alot to prove -- I will believe in Dansby when I see him being a good ballplayer

Jeshush.... you just have to figure out how to work John Hart into your dialogue, don't you?
Oh and your "TV potential" is a rubbish comment. What the hell is that even supposed to mean? Their TV contract is what it is and that won't change next year.

I will stop calling the Braves cheap when they actually show they are interested in giving us a real MLB payroll, not a bottom 10 one

I will stop calling the Braves cheap when they actually show they are interested in giving us a real MLB payroll, not a bottom 10 one If the revenue to do so is there, then show the proof. Unless you just enjoy complaining and I know that is the case. The Braves got a new stadium. They can't just get a new TV deal. The Braves got more money for their games that used to be on Peachtree TV. Payroll will go up some now that the Braves are exiting the rebuild and should see a bit of an increase if they make the playoffs this season as well. Current ownership did not sign the active TV deal, thus you cannot blame them for it. Unless you are you and enjoy complaining disingenuously.

And in this month the Braves have been a second rate team I don't know if payroll will go up, what I know is since the tear down, this has been a bottom 10 payroll team I do not see them making any moves to win now, and its not like these teams who are giving up prospects are giving up that much for players The Dodgers did not give up much for Machado, the Yankees did not give up much for Britton and Happ and the Red Sox gave up a so so prospect for Evoldi (he is not that great anyway) What are our guys going to do -- wait till next yr Don't you get tired of it What is the new stadium and battery doing for payroll - for now we do not know but I expect more than a bottom 10 payroll after this off season -- they do not do better they should be questioned on it -- of course if you love LM and the corporate shirts that is on you I am not going to be happy till the Braves are one of those teams that compete like we used to - before 2003 really before AOL put the hammers on the payroll
