Even if he finishes at .290/20/100/.850 or so, I don't expect the Braves to re-sign him for next year. If he finishes at .290/20/100/.850, I'll eat a shoe and post it on youtube

Re; Littlebeast, I have liked Nick too, he has been a solid Brave from day one. Don't care about the WAR, he has been a professional line drive hitter and a strong doubles hitter -- his RBI total the last 2 yrs were not bad -- other than the throwing arm (not what it used to be) he has not really embarrassed in the field no matter what the WAR people want to make it out to be
He has had more pop this yr -- he is worth keeping around -- would rather have the whole yr with Nick than some low level prospect who might be a AAAA player at best
Who in the system can you expect to be ready for next yr -- until Watters or Pache can be seriously ready, (or someone else) would not be bad to have him back another yr

If it was super outlandish then it would be a bet I can't lose, and what's the fun in that?
It could happen.

The old regime made some pretty horrific decisions but also some very good ones. When Neck was signed as a poor mans Heyward which has worked out swimmingly compared to what could have happened. He’s the clubhouse leader and well respected which is why I don’t see him getting traded if/when we faulter. I personally would trade him to someone like the dodgers while paying the rest of his contract since they need financial flexibility.

I assume you mean we COULD have signed Heyward to that ridiculous deal, but there's no way we were go anywhere near that close to the length and amount of money on him so I don't think we were ever anywhere near that bad decision. As far back as to when he was still with us. I did not like the length of the Markakis deal and I still feel like overall he has not given us very much production, but he's a good guy and I'm sure he's been good for the team in that sense and we've been so bad anyway nothing was hurt by it in the end.

He's had years like that before and this is the last year of his contract. He's not that old, and maybe he's just now completely healthy. Who knows? I'd like to see it happen, though.
