Justin Toscano@JustinCToscano · 2h The Braves claimed right-hander Royber Salinas off waivers from Oakland. If you remember, he was traded there in the Sean Murphy deal. He had promising strikeout numbers in the Braves system before that.
This could be a good one for Atlanta.

Of course, any time you can pick up a pitcher the A’s have dropped you have a diamond in the rough. These Braves writers have quite a contest going to see who can be the biggest kool-aid guzzler.

SportsTalkATL.com@SportsTalkATL · 6h ESPN names Braves best fit for Willy Adames 16 WAR over the last 4 years, that would be freaking awesome. Double win because then I wouldn't have to watch Arcia up there flailing away like he's swatting skeeters.

Are you saying they are about equal?

Comparing the two though, they probably are pretty similar in almost every way.
But the two biggest differences I see is that Adames has a career wRC+ of 109 and Dansby's is 96. And Dansby is by far the streakiest hitter in the history of the game......and I wholeheartedly believe it could be statistically proven that a guy who goes 3 for 60 over 15 games, providing almost zero offense, then goes 10 for 15 with 5 HR's over a five game stretch is detrimental overall compared to a much more consistent hitter who chips in more on a steady daily basis.
Adames will get paid but I don't think nearly as much as that ridiculous deal Fansby got. But I could be wrong about that, we'll see.

Double win because then I wouldn't have to watch Arcia up there flailing away like he's swatting skeeters. My bet is that Atlanta thinks Arcia surrounded by healthy talent will be more of the 2023 guy than the 2024 version, and will stick with him. I think they will bank on a healthy return of Acuña/Riley and Laureano/whoever in the OF being enough to either help Arcia be better at the plate, or be enough to make his WAR acceptable. I see them thinking even if he is somewhere in between the 2024 and 2023 versions as being good enough with the healthy return of the other guys.

Arcia’s 2024 was in line with his whole career other than 2022 and 2023. And I agree I think our management would be just fine with him, even if he’s a .650 OPS guy that plays good defense. I don’t think we’ll make any “major”moves aside from signing Charlie and one SP to a mid level contract to make up for losing Fried. I agree with everything else you said, Laureano is in. And you can bet the greater majority of your rear end Kelenic will be signed for 2-4 years to a very cheap deal, figuring worst case he plays for Gwinnett. Snitker would give up his left nut before he’d give up in his boy Kelenic.

Yes, I'm not giving him 6/$150M for sure. Arcia has about a 2.5 WAR over four years. Swanson $25M+/yr, Arcia $2M/yr. As long as we have all of our regulars performing to seasonal norms Arcia works out just fine as an above average defensive SS. At that salary, anything you get with the bat is a bonus.

Braves sign Bummer 2 years, $13m Braves redo Lopez deal to lock him up for 3 $8m in 2025 $14m in 2026 $8m in 2027 He was ok, he did have a 2.52 xFIP for us in 2024........but as I suspected, he was bad in high leverage and medium leverage spots when I checked. Did real good in low leverage. The problem is Snitwit doesn't pay attention to stuff like that, even though we instinctively know he was bad under pressure.
