I’m still on the Riley getting called up this year train. It’s perfect, everyone hates the current guy holding his position so Riley will have no expectations. Several things would need to happen for Riley to get called up this year. The Braves would have to be playing well enough that they feel they need him while the player he's replacing isn't playing well. The Braves would need to determine that Riley is ready and that a promotion wouldn't stunt his growth. Bautista will have failed if he doesn't pick it up shortly. Riley still would need to contend with Camargo and Flaherty. I guess Camargo could be required at short meaning the competition would be Flaherty. But again, Riley would also have to be ready. I would hate to see Riley promoted when he's not ready just because he's seen as the best amongst a number of bad options.

Snitker told DOB that if Alex Anthopoulos wanted to promote Austin Riley that he would be for it. Bautista will still be given some time. Maybe until Swanson comes back? Anyhow, the pressure will be on for Riley to perform as the starting 3B next season. I'm not sure I want to push that window forward. I would first look at trade options if I were the Braves.

CUT THIS PIECE OF WASHED UP GARBAGE. Joe said Bautista didn't take long to atone for his error after he hit the HR. A solo HR is the same thing as an error that leads to 4 runs.

I'm about ready to join the cut Bautista club. Would a team trade us a 3B so soon into the season? I'm assuming no. My guess is Riley is headed to the MLB team before the end of the month.

Braves are in the lead again after a Bautista 3 run HR. His OPS is now .710. That is by no means good. The home run and OPS number should buy him some time though shouldn't it?

He's still a liability at 3rd, and batting under .180.
We shall see.

Double play ball to end the inning and Bautista boots it.
What Jose giveth, his defense will taketh away.

I’ll give him credit, the home run was huge. He hit that thing a mile and a half high. His muff on the grounder was no good. Tough chance, but we gotta have those plays. Camargo made the tough play to start the 9th. Defense matters! Pat on the back to Jose for the big HR, but he has a long way to go to deserve that starting job.
