He was just signed to a 1 year minor league deal to play 3rd base. Super low risk move that can’t go wrong. If we stay competitive then he might provide a boost. If we don’t he can be traded. If he doesn’t make anything of this opportunity then who gives a crap.

Who knows? Might catch fire after being snubbed. As you dudes said, it's a no-risk move. Can he throw strikes??

The only risk I see is his glove. One of the things that I think has made us better is we have gotten more athletic and can catch the ball. To me, this has Kemp potential (power production on offense, horrible on defense), only in the IF instead of the OF

Hopefully Freeman's ok.

Reports that he has impressed enough that he is joining Gwinnett Monday for a doubleheader and could be in a Braves uniform soon. Looks like Camargo will jump into super utility which will help Swanson, Bautista, and Albies stay fresh. Once Acuna comes up we will have a solid lineup from top to bottom with Tucker and Camargo as solid bench pieces.
I am really curious the plan when it comes to pitching. AA has to be itching to make changes. Does he take arms like Fried and Gohara to the pen in the short term to see how well this team performs the next month or so?

Camargo reduces to bench, no likey. We need to know what we have in him for future reference. And he had a much better year last year than Bautista anyway. Fuuuuudge.

Always the odd man out. If you mean early in Prado's career, like just the first two years, that could be a very valid comparison but I hope it doesn't end up being true (I hope Camargo gets more of a chance). I loved Prado from the beginning and felt he should have been playing over Kelly Johnson from the start. But in his third year (2008) he finally started bullying his way into recognition and playing time and from then on he was a full time player. Amazing numbers he has put up for his career for a guy who was thought of as a utility role player in the beginning. .291/.340/.422 and a career 107 wRC+ with a career .762 OPS. Not bad for a "light hitting" utility guy as he was first considered. Now at 5400 career PA's too. Prado has WAR seasons of 3.9, 4.6, 3.7 and a 3.4......a career WAR total of 22.6. I'll bet you could have won bets with most people during his first two years that he would ever put up numbers like that.

Does anyone else have a bad feeling about this Bautista thing? The team is playing well. Pretty soon we'll have Acuna up. Just seems unnecessary to me. I would much rather have Camargo's glove and athleticism, not to mention there is the potential of Bautista being bad for the clubhouse.
IDK, seems like they are rushing this a bit. Last year, when they tried the same thing with Ryan Howard, they gave it enough time to figure out that he wasn't really going to help the big league club. I'm not sure a small handful of minor league games is enough to determine that Bautista is going to make an immediate impact at this stage in his career.

I think that’s part of the negotiation to be honest. Why would he take less money? I wouldn’t take less just because I’m friends with the GM. I’d take less because he promised me a chance to play ASAP.
I personally like the move. He slides in perfectly as a clean up hitter if he has even a little juice left in the tank. Acuna will need to hang around Swanson at the bottom of the lineup for a bit but that makes us pretty balanced from top to bottom, with the bottom oozing with potential.
AA is trying to make the playoffs believe it or not. Likely his best possible scenario is the young pitchers crush it in AAA and he can move Julio and still make a run.
Worst case he has some tradable assets at the deadline and a slew of kids come up trying to prove themselves.
