They didn’t need to make any new asinine rules, just cut out the constant assing around by hitters and pitchers.
The funny thing is stopping all that would create a visible tangible change in the pace of the game. When it takes 5 minutes for 3 pitches to get thrown I’m yelling at the hitters and pitchers myself.

Honestly, I'm not one who cares much about who is behind the mic, although I must admit that Chip wasn't my cup of tea. He's a goober.......

David O'Brien @dobrienatl 39m After 2027 season, though that probably doesn't matter much now, since Bally is about to go bankrupt.
LargeLar @3boyzdad 3h Replying to @dobrienatl Dave, when is the TV deal up?

David O'Brien @dobrienatl 4h Expect Acuña, Rosario to play more than they normally would in first games of spring training, since they'll be leaving for WBC around March 6 and, at least in Acuña's case, might be playing 9 innings in WBC games. Teams are likely to give more early ABs & innings to WBC guys.

Bob Nightengale @bnightengale The Chicago #WhiteSox get their second baseman. They have signed infielder Elvis Andrus to a one-year, $3 million contract.

Fried open to extension with Braves... Lets see how this goes. They can get an extension done after the season easily with Morton, Rosario, and Odorizzi money coming off the books. However, on the flip side, (and I hope I'm wrong), I don’t see Atlanta re signing Max Fried as Fried will command ace type dollars and that would put him the highest paid on the team. I think he will just finish out his time in Atlanta and sign for 30-35 million a season with another team. Fried pitched himself out of the Braves comfort level just like Swanson played himself out of the Braves comfort level. This close to free agency no reason for fried not to see the market www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/02/nl-east-notes-mets-britton-rizzo-fried.html

"Even if Kyle Wright is slightly behind in his throwing schedule, Atlanta is hoping he won’t have to start the regular season on the injured list, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com. The right-hander produced comfortably his best season to date last year, breaking out after owning a combined 6.56 ERA. over the previous four seasons to go 21-5 with a 3.19 ERA over 180 1/3 innings. The 27-year-old’s off-season prep was halted for three weeks in January following a cortisone injection in his right shoulder. That’s put him behind schedule as spring training begins, and Wright’s unlikely to make any starts for Atlanta over the first few weeks of Grapefruit League action in Florida. As Bowman reports, the hope is he’ll be able to increase his pitch count during the back half of spring training to a point where he can throw around 75 pitches in his regular season debut. That would probably mean he’d miss Atlanta’s opening series in Washington, instead targeting the trip to St Louis as a possible season debut."

Are pitchers being trained and/or handled incorrectly?

There’s pretty good evidence that’s true. As time goes by and the more they baby these guys the more arm trouble they have. For some it may just be pushing max velocity. It will be interesting to see who the first one is to go back to old school philosophy and stretch them out to 130 pitches and pitching rather than trying to throw 100 mph.

The predominant thinking is that hitters struggle more if they face three or four different pitchers in a game. There appears to be statistical proof that’s true, but it probably isn’t the best overall approach all things considered. You have to have extra bullpen arms and they still get put through the meat grinder. It also appears to be worse on starters arms, so if your starters are having arm issues that’s a huge problem.
I’d like to see stats from the 60’s through 2000 to see how hitters fared against the same starter as the game went on. I’ll bet batting averages did not go up as significantly as the games went on against the same pitcher back when the pitchers were actually pitching instead of throwing as hard as they could.
