1- Dansby stays or goes? I say he goes. After Freddie, I have to believe that. Grissom takes over. 2- Since everyone hates Acuña now, do we trade him in a blockbuster deal? I say no. 3-Do we keep Odorizzi and try to fix him? I say yes. 4- We need a lefty starter. Carlos Rodon? No, unfortunately not.
Anything else, anyone?

I think Dansby is gone. He's going to sign with whoever offers the most money and I don't think that will be us. I'd like to keep him but only at a reasonable cost. I would not pay him elite money. He was maybe the best defensive player in baseball this year, and he had his best offensive season, but there are still warning signs. He still had a .670 OPS for half the season. And I'm always leery of guys having career years in their contract year.
I don't think Grissom is our long term SS, I could see him being our LF. I think we'll sign a SS, no ideas yet. Other than Iglesias, to be a bridge to one of our SS we've drafted in maybe two years. It wouldn't hurt to have a player or two who hits for average and doesn't strike out eleventy billion times per year.
I'm not even considered trading Acuna that's just silly. I'm not happy with his mental status at this point. I don't know if he's just frustrated, or unhappy, or just having maturity issues, but he needs to clean that all up. I would not be surprised if he is frustrated that we let him be a target and we never respond. I would be if it was me. If the manager or the pitchers aren't going to stick up for me I'm going to do it, and I do get the sense he has been ready to charge the mound as far back as early last year. I'm sure Snitker has commanded him strictly not to do that, but if I'm him I do it and tell Snitker somebody had to make a statement. I give him half of a pass with his physical play because of his knee.
I don't want Odorizzi back but he's owed $6M with a $3M buyout. So he'll only cost us $3M more to keep him. Maybe he can move to the pen and do some good.
I hope moving Ozuna becomes a serious priority that gets done no matter how bad of a beating we take. Even just eating the rest of the money.
Kudos to Jansen for being better down the stretch but I'll be glad to see him gone and have Iglesias as our closer for the next three years.
With as much money as we've spent if we add a LHP starter it likely would be Muller or at least he'll get a shot.
We're going to be really good again next year, I expect we'll have a shot again and hopefully some guys learned a lot going through this mess.
Oh, and Snitker out and Chipper in as managering guy please, k thnx!

IF Vaughn's in their long term plan as SS, I don’t think it’s next year. I think they find a not too expensive veteran present to bridge the gap until they think he’s ready, especially defensively. If he’s playing left field in the OS, that tells me he’s a keeper, just not at SS. If that’s the case, I say the Braves go after a SS (I’m not knowledgeable enough to know who that might be) but may still decide to bring back Dansby after his best offer (at a hometown discount, of course). He’s getting married in the OS and I heard they were building a new home…gotta mean there’s a small part that realizes there’s more to life than showing off the big contract.

I like Dansby, but when all is said and done, he's a career .255 hitter with a career OPS+ of 95. Correa's is 129. Lindor's is 117. He's nowhere near their class, and although this year was his best, it was still only a 115. There's a reason we haven't extended him, and that reason is we aren't keeping him.

A retirement announcement from Sarge wouldn't upset me at all. He's just not a good manager.

I say Dansby leaves to LA to join FF. I’m all in for deGrom but I’d want to see if Trea comes here. We still have Rosario and Duvall. No LF needed. Will Yates be back? And regular season doesn’t mean much… unless MLB changes to best of 7 for division series.

A retirement announcement from Sarge wouldn't upset me at all. He's just not a good manager. Where was that magical thing he possesses, that he gets so much praise for when we win? Where was it in this series--the thing announcers heap praise on him for when win, and the media and reporters and the players, where they rave about how he does such a good job making them want to play hard and play well and all that crap? How come he didn't put that to work, whatever it is......that he gets so much praise for. Because apparently it wasn't here in this series, whatever that magical intangible thing is that he's so good at......

The room sure has changed. Just a couple of weeks back folk were posting in all caps "SIGN THAT GUY!!" regarding Dansby. The opinions change like leaves blowing in the wind.
Snitker isn't going anywhere by his choice or by ours, but we need to discuss how this guy seems to have totally lost Acuña. He can't control or motivate the guy. I really never want to hear that Snit is Cox 2.0. If Cox was manager he would have told multiple pitchers to hit the next SOB that came up to bat after Acuña got hit.... years ago. Plus he would not have tolerated Acuña's lackluster play in the field... so we can just end that narrative.
Acuña is a rudderless ship, and he's a guy that apparently needs a lot of guidance. Maybe it was the loss of Albies... I'm not sure, but his play in the field was really unacceptable. Who knows... maybe Snit told him to take it easy in the field or something and he took it too far, but that has really got to change.

Keep Dansby, can The moron Snitker. I know they all love grandpa Snitker but we need a coach with some fire and backbone, not a guy that sits in the dugout like an simpleton and watches the game. The game passed him by a long time ago, who makes a line up with Ozuna and Resario batting and not Contreras.

Maybe I missed it, I didn’t see anybody say to not sign Dansby. I’ve seen people say they think he’s gone or say we should not overspend to keep him. If the excitement over him has withered it’s probably due to his .675 OPS in August and .662 OPS in September. Throw in his .644 OPS in April, and you get exactly what you get from him every year. A terrible start and a terrible finish with a real strong June and July. It’s there literally every year. You can count on three months—half the season—for him to suck with the bat. I value his defense and I value his hot summers, but I don’t see how you pay a guy $20-25M per year who does that. He struck out 182 times this year. Then he had the poor playoff series with the bat. I’m still fine with it all, but with that career wRC+ of 95 and half a season of suckage every year I’m not paying him elite money. Even with this career year he just had, I can still prove that overall he’s somewhere around the 10th or so best overall SS in MLB during his career, and even just in the last 3 years, where he has trended better, he’s still only about the 7th best in that period. That’s pretty good and I hate to talk it down but it’s not elite. And again I’ll mention I think consistency is an intangible (that could be tangiblized) that matters and he would score really poorly in that regard.

Keep Acuna. I'd like to keep Dansby but just have a feeling LA will go after him.

I'm for keeping Dansby, just not at the money he's gonna command. He does some great things, but paying him based on his career year is not how AA does things.......although I still can't figure out the Charlie Morton thing, so I guess I really don't know how AA does things.

Well yeah... I mean everyone would be for keeping Dansby for cheap. But here's the thing.... he's going to command a lot, and if we want to "sign the guy" then that means we are willing to pay the price.
