Lawdy ESPN is AWFUL. Watching the cubs-sox game and they were talking about food. Karl Ravech talks about going to "Weiner Circle" and A-Rod was like "sure!, Though we'll lose our family friendly rating if we go after 10pm". LMAO idiots. Ravich was across the river here in Harrisburg, PA before ESPN. Never liked him even then either. From WIKI A graduate of Ithaca College in 1987, he has been affiliated with local stations WHTM in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania...

Jackson only has to be an average MLB catcher to make the whole thing a complete disaster, and he REALLY looks like a major league hitter now. I'm going by me WATCHING him all season.
It is still a small sample size at the MLB level but yes, his AAA numbers were outstanding this yr and in 2019 he hit 28 HRS and had an OPS in the 890s so he just broke out this yr in a bigger way I do not know how other teams perceived Jax. But did the Braves brain trust see him as a contributing MLB player? Was he ever going to get a chance here? Not saying he did not deserve one but the call is on AA and Snit. Jax has the chance to prove them wrong. Hey, for the way the bottom of the lineup was scuffling for so long I did not get why they did not give Demerritte a chance. So perhaps management does not value older mid 20 something former prospects in AAA the way they should. That is a fair question The only justification on the Duvall thing is that perhaps he wanted to go somewhere where there would be full time PT and the one egregious mistake management made was to bank and gamble on Pache before he was ready. That was the one dum dum on AA. And of course there were other issues in LF - no longer want to mention that one

That was the one dum dum on AA. And of course there were other issues in LF - no longer want to mention that one When you combine Jackson's 2019 and this year at AAA, he hit a HR exactly every 12 AB's. In 2019 he hit those 28 HRs in just 345 AB's, and this year he had 11 HRs in just 123 ABs. The difference this year is his BA and OBP were .287/.366 as opposed to 2019 when they were .229/.313. And that's because he figured it out. Having said all that, it was just AAA ball so he has a lot to prove, but his swing is so quick, compact and powerful and his balance is really nice, he understands leverage. He may not make it in MLB, it's not a certainty he will, but I like his chances because he does appear to have it all figured out. It's a shame because I'm not a big d'Arnaud fan and Contreras is very scary defensively, so if Langeliers takes a few years or flops we're in real trouble. It's a weak position for us in my opinion so I hate pissing away any possible asset we had at that position.

I agree about d'Arnaud..
We got a career year out of an injury prone guy. People think he's coming back and what they are remembering is 2020, and not what he was doing in 2021 before getting hurt.
It's always going to stick in my craw that we gave up Jackson for someone I advocated for re-signing in the off-season.
Oh and in addition to the hitting.. I think Jackson is already better at actually catching than Contreras, Leon, and Vogt.

The Marlins have to be peeing themselves over the potential they have with this guy now. They've moved Alfaro to LF and are really happy about that, thinking it will improve his offense, which it should.
d'Arnaud is ok, if he stays healthy, which has been an issue for him, and he's going to be 33 next year. He's a 1.5 WAR player at best at this point of his career IF he stays healthy. We probably already milked whatever he has left, he's certainly not a savior or someone we can count on down the road. He does look like a god right now though because his return should be the sign of us deep sixing Kevan.

I find it odd how the Braves just ditch or at least have a very short leash with certain guys for seemingly no real reason. Camargo and Jackson come immediately to mind, of course, but there are others like Lucas Sims and Kevin Gausman. Others,
like Newcomb and Minter, can do no wrong and get chance after chance. I'm sure all organizations do this, and I only notice it with the Braves. It's hard to understand why Jackson wasn't given a chance and we chose to bring in DOA guys like
Mathis and Leon. You'd think they would have done that before trading him, given his AAA results. It just makes no sense. That said, Jackson still has a LONG WAY to go to prove himself as a major league hitter. He's struck out 9 times in 20 at-bats
for the fish (obviously and EXTREMELY small sample), and his very limited major league career numbers are abysmal, even worse than Leon's. He's probably a guy who will either stick around for 5 or 6 good years (think Saltalamacchia) or
disappear altogether. Time will tell.

A complete zero in the personality department, and a horrible announcer. If ESPN thinks that people tune in to hear A-Rod, I've got news for them. Of course, ESPN stopped worrying about anything except wokeness a long time ago. They were woke before woke was all the rage. Anyway, sports needs more professional announcers and fewer jocks-turned-announcers........and fewer Chip Carays, too, who is also dumb as a stone.

I don't get the overall admiration and acceptance of A-Rod in general & I am talking about the sports and non sports fan public since he has been out of the game.
For one thing he is a PROVEN PED cheater and was suspended a yr and a half for it
This guy is on shark tank, in the entertainment culture and overall is accepted by some core of the fans and non fans
Barry Bonds on the other hand, is a pariah in public life - and less was proven about him. Sure he was a jerk to enough people and those who cover the game but is he that much a worse guy than A-Rod
I would not be surprised if A Rod does get into Cooperstown - I guess he was not as much a jerk with the media types.
A-Roid is more of a proven cheater than Bonds and Clemens. But he does not get the same consternation. Guess it is a personality thing

It's really not hard to explain. He is undoubtedly a good lib. That's all it takes.

I don’t get why this board is so obsessed with Jackson. Literally NO baseball analysts agree with you armchair GMs.
