I don’t get why this board is so obsessed with Jackson. Literally NO baseball analysts agree with you armchair GMs. Apparently the Marlins see something in him because they were willing to trade within the division for him giving up one of the top HR and RBI producers to get him... and one would think they would have received some sort of a better offer for Duvall than some POS no one believes in... Plus I would note that DOB and Bowman are not the spokesmen for all baseball analysts across the country. Plus there's this thing with this organization needing catcher depth, and defensively Jackson is more than MLB ready and many catchers have long careers based only on defense. One thing that I don't get though is why you rarely show up and say anything unless it's to just rip other people on the board. You obviously have a very low opinion of most everyone here, so why do you bother?

Well, he is batting about .100, but that said, I can understand the Marlins' interest. Catchers are very difficult to find. As for Kirby, I used to think he just hated Dansby, but he seems to hate everyone.

As for Kirby, I used to think he just hated Dansby, but he seems to hate everyone. Alex Jackson has had 75 big league AB's. When was it ever a acceptable to judge a player on that kind of sample size?
He's had two killer years in AAA, which is enough for anyone to recognize potential. Yes, there's a huge difference between AAA and MLB, and some guys kill AAA and never make it in MLB. But nobody can rule him out at this point. So my problem is giving up on a guy who shows a lot of potential to fill a position for us that is a weakness. Giving that player away for no reason is doubling down on the stupidity. It's not complicated to see why someone would be bothered by the way this played out. But kirby is not here for baseball discussions, he's just here to harp on Dansby when he's in a slump and complain about everybody and everything else. He's obviously one of "those" people. A wink is as good as a nod to a blind man.

I will have my final say on Alex Jackson.
It is true that he has killed it for power in AAA for both 2019 and this season has taken it to an over 1.000 level. It took a long time for him to develop and more power to him
For now, as it stands, he did hit a couple of pitches long and he will get his chance to show what he can do in Miami. Remains to be seen if he is a productive MLB guy
But we got Duvall who was an immediate need and given the results, I am glad to have him back. Did we blow it not keeping him in the off season, given hindsight, I am sure the FO would have found a way to keep him. But hey, in essence we got back a guy we needed for now - hope he is kept for a couple of more yrs but the hot stove league is a few months away.
I am convinced AJAX was not going to get his chance here so if he capitalizes on it in Mia, so be it. We did get what was needed for him for now
Prospects are used to fill needs all the time. The way I look at it, hey I am 65, I am in it to win now, so I liked the deal. Even a division title and a playoff elimination is better than punting on the season. You cannot keep them all.
Prospects come and go, and you get a draft every year. Its not like an Acuna or Ozzie type was dealt.
I appreciate that AA did not punt away on the season. Punting on the season when you are not that far out is cheating the fans in my book

I don't get the overall admiration and acceptance of A-Rod in general & I am talking about the sports and non sports fan public since he has been out of the game. For one thing he is a PROVEN PED cheater and was suspended a yr and a half for it This guy is on shark tank, in the entertainment culture and overall is accepted by some core of the fans and non fans Barry Bonds on the other hand, is a pariah in public life - and less was proven about him. Sure he was a jerk to enough people and those who cover the game but is he that much a worse guy than A-Rod I would not be surprised if A Rod does get into Cooperstown - I guess he was not as much a jerk with the media types. A-Roid is more of a proven cheater than Bonds and Clemens. But he does not get the same consternation. Guess it is a personality thing It isn't personality, because A-Rod has no personality. It's really not hard to explain. He is undoubtedly a good lib. That's all it takes. If A-Roid gets in the Hall early on the ballot the BBWA needs to apologize to Bonds and Clemens. Why the entertainment industrial complex has this thing for A-Roid, well, I do not get it - has to be more than being a nice lib That he dated the overrated J-LO had his name in the spotlight but it will be interesting how the BBWA votes when his time comes up

I don’t hate Jackson, I’m just not going to burn management at the stake because they didn’t expect ozuna to be awful and then beat his wife. Also, no one could’ve expected Pache to be absolutely atrocious. No one could’ve predicted Jr’s ACL injury either.

A lot of what was said was in response to one user who claimed we gave up absolutely nothing to get Duvall and who has proven that he would trade half the minor league system if it meant we would win 84 games instead of 81. Personally I'm just pissed about it because I was incensed we didn't re-sign him after last year and went into the season trusting absolutely in Pache and with a very weak bench. I don't think the money he ultimately got was prohibitive to having him as the 4th outfielder.

I understand the anger especially since we’re going to pay him double what his tender would’ve been, after the mutual or the buyout which undoubtedly he’ll exercise. I’m just not ready to announce what was in my opinion a AAAA catcher, a real loss. Withl langleirs and Contreras in the works. Also, they couldn’t afford to lose the race in august and miss out on attendance for the year. Because you know prior to the last few years, Atl fans don’t show up when we’re winning let alone when were out of the race
