I'm scared of this game, the Faillies are clearly in our heads.
We won the season series and won 3 out of 4 in their ballpark while they were still playing for a spot....and it seems like we beat them in a game recently.......but we are clearly scared of them and Michael Lorenzen.

I am scared of the choices out manager may make for this game.
Start Tonkin? Play Lopez and bat him second? Reverse the entire lineup thinking it will confuse the Phillies and bring out best players up when they least expect it?
It could be anything!

Starting the wonder player Pillar in LF and batting him leadoff seems like a good idea.

Mark Bowman @mlbbowman · 1h The Braves won’t announce the Game 3 starter today. They did the same before Strider started Game 3 last year. Just a thought: Instead of having Smith-Shawver spend all of today thinking about the start, just tell him tomorrow morning.

RED SOX Red Sox fire pitching coach Dave Bush and infield coach Carlos Febles The Red Sox have fired pitching coach Dave Bush and third base coach/infield instructor Carlos Febles.
Bush had been the pitching coach since the 2020 season, following three years as a Red Sox minor league pitching coordinator. But with the pitching staff having struggled to a 4.52 ERA this season (21st in the big leagues), the team elected to go in a different direction.
Febles, a longtime minor league instructor, was added to the coaching staff for the 2018 season. But while he drew praise for the progress of Xander Bogaerts and Rafael Devers, the team’s defensive collapse in 2023 contributed to the change.

David O'Brien @dobrienatl · 6h It was the most raucous few minutes I’ve felt at an ATL stadium. From the moment the game-ending play happened through the next 5 minutes when we got on the elevator, Truist Park was absolutely electric. People shouted as if the world was saved and an arch villain vanquished.

☈ Chris Jackson ☈ @chrisjacksonsc Wonder if these little anomalies a couple mins after it happened was the ground literally shaking from the double play that ended the Braves game at around 9:16 or so. Two stations picked up “something” around the same time a few mins later and both were around the same distance from Truist Park. #Braves #NLDS

Oh lawd.... Snitker is determined to do some managering for game 3.
In the off day presser today, he said not only is the "traditional route" in play; starting Elder or Smith-Shawver, but he is also considering a true bullpen game which means saving Strider,Fried, Elder, Smith-Shawver for game 4 and a potential game 5. The thought being he has 4 starters available for those 2 games in case Strider or Fried were to blow up early.
I swear... if that moron writes off game 3 thinking it means games 4 and 5 would be lockdown games for us because of the 4 guys available to go 4-5-6 innings; Imma gonna freak out.

Yeah how does he think he's going to win game 3? Somebody needs to give that idiot a big enough does of Benadryl to knock him out for 3-4 days. And then several more doses after that.
We've gotten to Nola several times over the years, haven't we? He seems like our best chance.
I'll bet Snitwit is really cussing himself for not having McPuke on the roster just for the start of this game. I'm not ruling out one of our players, maybe Hernandez, coming down with a strained muscle somehwhere in the next 16 hours and seeing McPuke added to the roster.

Just a little FYI, the Pillarasaurus and Rosario both have 26 career playoff ABs against LHP:
Pillarasaurus: .231/.259/.423/.682
Rosario: .385/.448/.731/1.179
The Pillarasaurus is a beast.

I felt like we should start Elder until I looked at his game log this morning, he’s been worse than I thought for longer than I thought. The only way a bullpen game won’t kill us is if Tonkin can give us three solid innings, but he’s been real bad lately too. We have almost no choice but to start Smith-Shawver with a short leash and pray he can give us 3-4 good innings or we can score 15 runs. I love Charlie Morton but he has really screwed us three years in a row in the playoffs.

Unbelievable. He should be used strictly as a late-inning defensive sub.

He needs Maddux-like control to be successful, and he doesn't have that.........and I sure don't trust him to go out there and pitch well today.
