It looks like Robinson Cano was a great bench addition by AA he got a couple of hits against the Mets in his last start.

Kirby Yates was scheduled to begin rehab assignment yesterday. Still no word on when Soroka will start back up.

I’m hearing rumors that we are very interested in OF Michael A Taylor of the Royals. We certainly can do better than that, can’t we?

He's a 2.0 WAR player this year... regardless, I am looking at it from the "how much better is he than Mike Ford?" perspective. lolol

Just to further beat home how bad Ozuna is, he has 40 RBI this season hitting behind one of the best 1-4 lineups in all of baseball. He's 90th in MLB in RBI.
RISP: .172/.208/.269/.477
2 outs w/RISP: .233/.267/.349/.616
This is two years of this garbage. Not to mention the mental stress he put everybody through last year.
I was a super strong advocate of doing whatever we had to do prior to this season to move him. Now it's even harder. But if you're going to make an honest effort to put the best players you can on your roster, you have to get this guy out of here. Period. Cut your losses, take your medicine, make the team better. If not here at the deadline, it has to be done in the offseason. His poor performance is extremely consistent. He is either done, or needs a change of scenery.
You could literally trade him for anyone and DFA the new guy tomorrow and our team would be better. Hell, eat the damn salary if you have to. We're going to cash in big on playoff money again this year. Let's put our best team out there.

If I were AA, I would really try to see if Ozuna and a prospect to Arizona for Bumgarner would work.

If I were AA, I would really try to see if Ozuna and a prospect to Arizona for Bumgarner would work. Our organization is at a point where we don't have much gray area when it comes to the word "prospect." We have a couple of really good ones and then almost nothing of any value. There's very little if any middle ground.
Overall I could live with swapping Ozuna for Bumgarner, the prospect thing becomes dicey because I would not want to give up any of our top 4 or 5......which is really about all we have.
Bumgarner would cost us $7M more than Ozuna for 2023 and 2024 and I could live with that if it was a straight up deal. But I don't see why Arizona would want to do that deal unless saving $7M meant that much to them.
When I was looking at Bumgarner's contract he does have a trade clause that allows him to choose 5 teams he would be willing to be traded to. So we may not even be on that list. Perhaps he could be persuaded to include us if winning titles is important to him.

We would have to pay Madbum and eat Ozuna money to make that happen.

We would have to pay Madbum and eat Ozuna money to make that happen. I certainly don't see why Arizona would want to do it any other way, it's not like they're going to be competitive in the next two years. They would have no reason to even want Ozuna. So they're either going to want a good prospect too or come out way ahead on the money. Our only hope would be that some given chunk of money savings would make it worth their while and that chunk would be reasonable for us--I guess it's possible to some degree because they really have no need for Bumgarner over the next two seasons either. His only value would be some long shot that he pitches well enough to bring a decent prospect or two at the deadline in 2023 or 2024.

Hey.. I am fine with eating some Ozuna money to be rid of him. Yeah and I think it's time to accept that's what needs to be done in order to make the team the best we can be.
I actually thought that it was time before the season started--there was no good option then, there's still no "good" option now, you just have to accept at some point you've made a bad decision, take a hit and fix it. Yes, this will be a huge financial hit and a big black mark against the GM......but dragging this out into next year and beyond is going to make it worse.
Ozuna's monthly splits for last year and this year are scarily consistent...in a very bad way. No signs of anything but nonstop suckage.
April 2021: .202/.295/.313/.608 May 2021: .225/.281/.404/.686
April 2022: .256/.293/.453/.747 May 2022: .208/.254/.387/.641 June 2022: .220/.301/.385/.686 July 2022: .195/.247/.368/.615
That's not worth $15M per year. And irregardless of pay, it's not someone you want playing every day....or even on your roster.
And just think how bad those OPS numbers would be if he wasn't managing to hit HRs at a 24-26 per year pace.
Imagine how bad a guy has to be to hit 25ish HR's and have a .670 OPS. Well actually you don't HAVE to imagine it, you've been watching it go on for over a year.
And keep in mind he had a super hot start to this season......for 11 freaking games and that was it. After game 11 he was .318/.326/.659/.985
His OPS right now is .671 for the whole year, so starting with game 12 of the season he's .206/.267/.362/.629 with a 74 wRC+.
And the saddest part is we're talking about a total gimp as a defensive player, so the ONLY thing he could bring to the table would be offense. We're talking about the 2nd to worst player in all of baseball.

The #Braves today acquired INF Ehire Adrianza from the Washington Nationals in exchange for OF Trey Harris. The club also designated INF Robinson Canó for assignment.
