The Ford pickups have always been hard to beat. Among the small trucks, it's always been the Toyota. I haven't had a truck in a while, and I miss having one. I drive too much for work to have one right now, but that will end before too much longer......and I will have my truck again!

Real men drive trucks. I don't trust a man that doesn't, lol
The Ford 300 6 is definitely a workhorse. The 351W is the same small block base as the venerable 302, so they are about as bullet proof as the small block chevy. Really hard to hurt them unless you mistreat them badly.

I was in a financial bind when I had to sell my '84 F-250 and it absolutely killed me. I can still look at pictures of it and get pissed off that I had to sell it.

lol, I thought I'd look real quick for a picture of that '84 F-250 and immediately found a picture of my first Ford truck, a '76 F-150.....with my beagle buddy Rowdy looking out the back window at me. That's from 1982. A few moons ago.

There's the good old '84, a working machine!

Mine was an '84, too, but a short wheelbase. The only problem with those trucks was that the rear wheel wells were known to rust out. Otherwise, they were pretty much the sh it.

Enjoy your retirement sir, I haven’t been here all that long but I’ve enjoyed reading your baseball acuity and your humor, I will miss it. I hope you pop in once in a while during the season. Best of luck to you and your wife during your travels and projects.

I loved everything about that truck, and I loved the way it sat, just beautiful. I don't recall what year exactly, it seems like around 1990, when Ford rounded the front and rear of the bodies on their trucks and I've never liked the way they looked after that. It just got worse and worse as time went by.

Best of luck to you and your wife during your travels and projects. Thanks dirt, I really appreciate that! I've always enjoyed your baseball input and for sure your sense of humor, you made me laugh probably more than anybody else. You have a subtle and quick wit, you notice a lot of funny stuff and cleverly point it out. I wish some of you guys would post more often in the whole forum instead of just the game day threads, y''all have a lot to add and to offer.
I'm only taking about a 75% retirement now, it won't be official and I can't file for my meager social security and all that, but it's going to be a massive cut down in work. But my wife is going to work another 8 years because she wants to, she works at the V.A. and can score some wicked retirement benefits, which will be nice as long as we don't go all socialist.
Anyhow, these next 8 years are going to be fun for just me and my girlfriends, the old lady can go once in awhile when she hangs it up in 8 years.
I'll pop in from time to time though for sure, just gotta take an extended break here at the start (wish they'd get this damned election settled so I can move!). I have 80 projects to do and I'm a doer so it's hard to be patient and spread things out and get them done on my own sweet time. I was really lazy when I was a kid, I need to remember how to do that.

That's pretty sharp but I think the edges are angled rather than curved. The curved ones were horrible. I'll try to dig up a picture it shouldn't be hard, but you probably already know what I mean.

Oh, I totally agree. These were the ugliest of the Fords by far. Even dressed up, they were pretty bad.
