I've had enough, I'm tossing in the towel!
80% of the reason is for the good. We were expecting to have our house paid off in 6 years, and I've recently discovered we can move a pretty large sum of money without penalty and just pay the damn house off within a few months. Once I do that I can take about a 75% retirement, which is going to allow me to tackle all kinds of projects and dreams that have been accumulating for 25 years.
Whilst I've been running my business it's kept me near a computer 18 hours a day, so it was always easy to hop on here and there and make a few posts. Things are going to be way different now, I'll hardly ever be around a computer, and when I am it's going to be purely work related and the goal is going to be to get the hell away from it as quickly as possible.
The other 20% of the reason I'm quitting is I'm tired of the a-holes and arguments you find all over the internet. I've been doing it for 20 years now and I just don't have the desire to continue.
At least I'm not being a butthole like jah or Nightman, who both have forsaken us here with nary a word. Terrible rotten human beings, both of them! Made of the same stuff that no good bravepap is.
Just up and leave a bunch of friends you've made and vanish into thin air.
I'll be on here through the election, in the baseball forum and political forum. Once the election is decided, I'll be done. I'll be going back to completely ignoring politics again, like I did the first 90% of my life.
Most likely I'll make a post or two way down the road once in awhile just to check in on everybody, for the most part of I've enjoyed a hell of a lot of good stuff we've talked about here and on the old bored, there's been a lot of good people and good times.

You love the Braves too much. You'll be back come baseball time.
In other words, don't leave me to deal with these loons by myself.

You're correct about loving our Barves, but I have so much lined up already I couldn't keep posting if I wanted to. I have about 3-4 other places I post and I'm quitting all of them, just don't have the time or the desire. I was never into Facebook or Twitter, the internet forums were the only online interaction I had with people, and that has run it's course.

It's pretty handy dandy, and you don't need a computer! Besides, what fun is following the Braves without having a little fun with the peanut gallery?

Yeah I've used my phone plenty to post....the idea is to STOP posting though!
No matter how handy dandy they make it, I no longer have the time nor most importantly desire!

Just politely saying goodbye to people I consider friends, I've been posting with some of these guys for 15, maybe 20 years. I didn't want to just leave like Nightman and jah did. Like several people here I wish they wouldn't have just disappeared without a word, I really hope those guys are ok.
You on the other hand are a real a-hole and you're cordially invited to go f*** yourself.

I expect him to be manager coach after Snit is embalmed 2 years from now. He will approach the managers job with the same zeal and excitement that he has on the field.

I don't do the social media thing. I'm not into virtue signaling, and I figure my dinner looks about like everybody else's, but I do like my Braves message board. It's a pretty good diversion. So let me get this straight. You're retiring, which means you won't have time to post or something like that? I must be confused about how this retirement thing works. 😂

I will say, though, that this election thing has me worn out. So many people who think they're informed and don't know sheet from apple butter. That and COVID fatigue is enough to get to anybody. These power hungry politicians and bureaucrats don't wanna let it go. My point is, I think I understand how you feel. It's exhausting........if you let it be. I've been listening to a lot of music lately. That always soothes my soul. Everything from Hank Williams to AC DC.

So let me get this straight. You're retiring, which means you won't have time to post or something like that? I must be confused about how this retirement thing works. 😂 Well I've been working 60-80 hours a week for 25 years, I haven't had more than three days off in a row during that period, and even that happened rarely.
So I've got a lot of catching up to do with vacations, travel, and a whole lot of other projects. Lot of home projects to catch up on now too.
I just haven't had a life, really, and it's time to make up for that. All the work paid off and now I'm going to be out doing things.
I agree the boreds have been a nice diversion, but that's just played out for me. I've been on them for so long I've just had the same discussions over and over and over, it's just a different player here or there, or a different sport here or there, but the same conversations with the same characters.....every internet forum has the same type of people, and it's all gotten old for me. I'll be turning 60 pretty soon and it's time to get refreshed and do some living. I went into all my health problems with a few people, I've really had some issues the last ten years, and I've finally found an integrative doctor who has found some things no traditional doctor could, and we're about to start some real involved treatments. It will likely take 2-3 years to complete all of it. It just has me focusing on a new start and a different direction in a lot of ways, a lot is on my plate now.

I've been listening to a lot of music lately. That always soothes my soul. Everything from Hank Williams to AC DC. There's no question that paying attention to politics the last 8 years or so is a HUGE part of what's beaten me down with my desire to spend time on the internet conversing with others. I never paid a lick of attention to any of that my whole life, and then without naming names and parties someone screwed up the economy really bad, and as a business owner I HAD to pay attention, and then someone else came along and gave us a great economy, and I noticed big time with my bank accounts. But once this election is decided that's where I'm stepping off. Being beaten down by politics and discussing politics is exactly why the timing of all of this is coming down like this.....I have a political forum I post in and it's about 50/50 liberals and conservatives, so it's a real brain drain. It doesn't matter who wins in that sense, I'm just done with politics and talking online with other people. I used to be extremely active in real life and I'm going to be that way again. I have let myself get way too invested into this election, but a few of us did keep posting in the political forum here and I will through the election if others will too.
Music is the cure all for everything for me. I played music myself a good part of my life and when I wasn't playing I was always involved in some way with music until I started my own business, and that's one of the things I really miss, probably the most.
