One difference for me with Wright is that he has not had control problems in the minors. He's just having trouble bringing it to the big leagues. You look at Newcomb, he's struggled with it all through the minors.
I agreed with a Cardinals fan to a trade of Newcomb for Carson Kelly late in 2018. Kelly had a real nice year for Arizona last year.
As for Wright, could it be that he just does not have the confidence to pitch to real major league hitters or, he is just not good enough to pitch at this level. Either he is part of the solution or part of the problem and at this point, he is part of the problem I hope the Braves do not dilly dilly around with him as long as they did with Folty. Folty did tantalize us with his good stretches even in the 2016 and 17 yrs so its understandable they stayed with him. He even had a good stretch last yr But this Wright guy, man he is bad as far as what we see at the MLB level. He has worse control than Newk in his brief time in the show As for Newk, his place is in the pen as a non closer. Based on last yr. Good think I am not the manager of Kyle Wright he would get a Mike Ditka dress down with some shape up or ship out language

He shows flashes, like tonight for two innings, of being capable of being dominant. He's good enough, in my opinion without a doubt, but the battle is going on between his ears. For some guys that's a battle they can never win, we'll just have to see.

A couple of thoughts... Remember a couple of years ago when we kept adding pitcher after pitcher and some people complained? This is why you can never have enough pitching in your organization. I am very disappointed with how we've done developing a lot of our young pitching talent. We've drafted and added a lot of arm talent that doesn't seem to really know how to be a pitcher, and then we have failed to teach them. I’d love to get some Indians personnel on the Braves. Their ability to churn out guy after guy is extremely impressive.

The Rays should be arrested for the heist they pulled on the Pirates when they got Glasnow.

I never thought Archer was that good, for sure not a top rotation guy and for what the Rays got well, that was a major key build for that franchise that should be good for a while till the current players outgrow that baby food payroll.

Foltynewicz has cleared waivers and remains in the team's 60 player pool.

There must have been something that other teams were looking at they did not like - more like they did not like the decline of his fastball
Even at his salary, 6 plus mil is not a high salary for even a back tiered SP this day in time - some teams are more desperate for SP they we are believe it or not
Maybe some time in Gwinnett can help - it did last year
Hope for the best

There's no Gwinnett this year Don't tell Folty that.
Send him to a nutrition clinic and just tell him THAT'S Gwinnett.
