You won’t find a Braves player in the last 10 years that got more excuses made for him than Dansby. He was rushed to the majors, and that wasn't his fault. I'm starting to believe that the healthy wrist is a big factor for him. I'm not sold yet, but I am encouraged.

I am sold on his defense. He is a different shortstop than he was two yrs ago, we saw the D last yr
If he can be league average at the plate and OPS in the 750 to 800 range, that is good enough
He very well might hit between 16 and 20 HRS - he was 14/59 last yr
Would I extend him as part of the core, I would think about it
We (well some of us) might have expected too much to begin with, as for the wrist, he still did play a decent short last yr
He is not a bust of a number one overall pick, there have been worse

I would wait to see how consistent Dansby is with the bat this year before I would think about extending him with the core.

Even with a little bit of a recent dip he's looked much better overall. I just need to see it for at least 3-4 months. If he has an OPS around .730 to .750 over a decent period of time he's a valuable enough player with his defense thrown in.

I'd say it's possible too, but if he gave us .750 I'd never complain.

His swing is solid. It's all a matter of pitch recognition. Acuna has picked that up pretty quickly, Dansby not so much, but hopefully he'll get there.

His swing was solid at times before but when he lost recognition his confidence went completely to hell and his swing fell apart. He would just flail wildly and hope. Then he would get overly aggressive trying to get out of the slump and it would just make it worse. Hopefully we never see all of that again.

His recognition has improved considerably, though. That's the main reason I'm encouraged.

It could be he’s just learning how to guess or anticipate better. Or maybe we’re stealing signs when he’s up to help him. I highly doubt that but you never know.
