Kelsey Wingert @kelswingert Updated pitching rotation for #Braves this weekend in NYC: Folty on a Thurs, Sanchez on Friday, Gausman on Sat. & Teheran on Sun. Newcomb will go on Monday in D.C. Max Fried moves to bullpen for now - could be used in double header Tuesday if he doesn’t throw long relief. very disheartening moving fried to the pen and leaving wholio out there to make us guess whether 9 runs are needed to win or 7 runs are needed to win.

The Braves way is to have a lot of loyalty to a guy like Julio. There was never a doubt in my mind no move would be made that would supplant him as a starter.

As I continued to monitor the radar after the postponement, light rain showers finally exited the Smyrna area just before 9:30 PM. The batch to the SW slowed down began to slowly dissipate and show holes in the coverage by 10 PM. This cluster of showers moved through Douglasville continuing to diminish in intensity from moderate to mostly light showers by 11 PM and the eastern edge then moved through the Smyrna area with just very light intermittent showers continuing to dissipate between 11PM and 12PM . Only light showers at the ballpark after 9 PM and very little rainfall after 9:30 PM. They could have played but it is what it is and with both teams leaving town they probably just didn't want to wait and see. I suspect, but don't know for sure, that it was just some showers from the outflow boundary (https://forecast.weather.gov/glossary.php?word=outflow%20boundary) of earlier heavier showers and nothing related to any upper air disturbances. This mostly light shower cluster did hang around longer than I expected but eventually dissipated and brought very little rain to the Atlanta Metro area. As a general rule many times these types of showers, absent another source of energy to create sufficient instability, will eventually dissipate in the evening hours due to diurnal stabilization.
I checked this morning and here are some local rainfall totals last night after 9 PM and through 1 AM. Marietta / Dobbins Air Force Base .04" Atlanta, Hartsfield - Jackson Atlanta International Airport .02" Fulton County Airport-Brown Field .06" Cartersville Airport .05"
Definitely nothing that could not have been played through! -PA

Yep, that was the Bobby Cox way and always has been the Braves way ever since. It's the same reason Dansby is getting such a long leash. Whoa watch out with the truth on dansby around here What's the truth about Dansby? For me, the truth about Dansby is that he's a very good defensive shortstop with good speed and baseball savvy who hasn't hit as well as expected to this point in his career. The truth about Dansby is that he is 24 years old, and he was rushed to the big leagues largely because of his local ties (and his pretty face). Will he ever hit as well as expected? Well, the truth about Dansby when it comes to that is we don't know. When Andrelton Simmons was 24 years old, he had an OPS of .617 and an OPS+ of 75. Right now, Dansby is sitting at a .703 OPS with an OPS+ of 92. Yeah, Simmons is peerless defensively, but Dansby is pretty damn good with the glove, too. We got burned when we traded Simmons, so I expect we will show more patience with Dansby. We know you hate Dansby (I have my doubts, too), and you're entitled to your opinion........but you're not entitled to your own facts.

Oh no, I’m on record many times calming the hate on dansby crowd. Just don’t think he’s worthy of benching Camargo for a 3rd Basemen.

Ender and Dansby are the type of players winning teams have. Dansby or Ender could easily hide On he Yankees or Red Sox line up, but not ours. It’s basically like having 3 hitters hitting if you take away dansby one hot hitting month

Look, I have my doubts about Dansby, too, but when I remind myself that he's still very young and that he was rushed to the majors, I feel better about him. I'm hoping he turns into a .280/15/75/.800 guy. If he does, I think that's a good ballplayer. The key for him is to learn how to recognize and handle the breaking stuff. If he does that, I think he's there, but a lot of players never figure that out.

We know you hate Dansby (I have my doubts, too), and you're entitled to your opinion........but you're not entitled to your own facts. We got Sean Newcomb in the Simmons trade, so I don't think we can assume we got burned just yet. Giving up on Andrelton as a hitter when we did, I can't fault the organization for that. He had so many flaws it looked like he couldn't be fixed.
The rest I agree with, but I am concerned about Dansby's pitch recognition issues. It seems to be getting worse. I'm not so sure he's ever going to overcome that. In the meantime, as I've mentioned several times, over the last two seasons there are only four players who have a lower wRC+ than Dansby. His is 72. The others below him are Alex Gordon at 70, Billy Hamilton 66, Scott Kingery at 60 (LOL!!!), and Alcides Escobar at 52.
If we wanted to just look at this season, his wRC+ is 82, which ties him with several guys for 133th place overall.
