It was nice while it lasted, but as Atlanta sports fans, it was too good to be true
And this slump by Mr Freddie is tiring -- he should be called out for it -- love Freeman but he is not getting his job done well
Four losses in a row now -- not good & the Nats seem to be showing interest in salvaging the season
And of course, the Phillies (odds favorite to land Machado) are catching us and if recent history shows, they do have an interest in getting the good guys to get better I would not be surprised to see them be a front runner to sign him this off season in spite of that agent --
Its not as bad as it was under Hart & Coppy, but this is a bad disgraceful week and its time to panic these past 4 games
I am worried about Newcomb, its skitzy crazy with Teheran and with Folty, while he did settle down and got through 6, he had that one bad inning where he made some bad pitches, gor frustrated and in the end, it lost the game
Yes, its time to panic as usual in ATL sports -- we always get frustrated it never works that that is the way it is
We will NEVER win anything -- and United let us down too - they too are feeling the curse of ATL sports history after the other night

I see no reason to give up on Freeman and the idea he goes into full beast mode any day now and that changes everything.

Its not a matter of giving up on Freeman -- its about calling him out, he needs to scrape the SH off his shoes and start producing again For now, he is NOT producing as fans, he should be Booed till he starts doing the right things again He is not the only one who should be called out with the garbage that is going on -- Losing is disgraceful and this disgrace needs to stop -- I think Braves fans should be MAD as H!!! for this Its not something to calm down about -- losing is NEVER something to calm down about

Expectations are a funny thing. In early May, it was fun to watch this young team battle to first place. It was like “hey, they could actually be better than we thought.” The reality was that they were playing with house money, but the dust would settle and they would end up staying in the hunt and make this season fun and interesting. But then, they kept winning and after half the season, were still in first and looked like they could really contend for the East. Suddenly, it was like “this team has a chance to do something special ... 1991 special”. Now, they look like a very average team and that’s frustrating. It went from hoping they win to expecting it, but that was never a realistic expectation. I’m ready to go back to the house money approach where a mid 80 win season is acceptable. Otherwise, I’m just setting myself up for disappointment. Maybe they will do better, but really, after where they’ve been the last few years, a winning season will be a step in the right direction. They’ve made great strides, but they’ve got a little ways to go before they are a legit division contender.

They’ve made great strides, but they’ve got a little ways to go before they are a legit division contender. I agree with all that. I just see the team regressing to where I thought we’d be before the season started. 2-3 weeks ago I said we’ve had an incredible amount of things go right, and didn’t expect that to continue. Once Newcomb and Folty got some innings built up they were sure to regress, as were Carle and Winkler. Nick and Freddie were due to slump some. Other guys have fallen off some and the bullpen struggled—despite the claim of one good guy here with good intentions, our bullpen ERA was over 5.00 in June, 4th worst in baseball. It’s just a combo of things coming together to pull us down to where we really should be.

We need a new good arm in the pen and holy Moses do we need to get rid of Santana.
I mean Flaherty and Santana off the bench as bats is just a pitiful situation.
I'm DFAing useless Santana.... bringing Tucker back, and letting him start occasionally against righties to keep him in tune and to have Acuna as RH power off the bench to PH in those games when they inevitably bring in a lefty reliever. They can let Tucker start every now and again and sit Acuna against tough righties and still get him in almost every game at some point, and it gives us a better bench.
Freeman should have been given a couple of days off over the past 3 weeks, but Snit wants to ride him into the ground like he almost did Viz.
Flaherty is getting 0 playing time in the field and there's another spot where we can find some sort of an actual bat for the bench. Bring Reed back.
Stop the stupid Wisler/Sims yoyo, DFA Moylan... send Freeman to the 10 day DL and make a deal to add a bullpen arm or two that are retainable for more than half a season.
Oh and have our coaches start having our pitchers pitch to our defense and the field we are on instead of having a one page "book" that was written in 1953.

We are losing -- that is the bottom line. A 4 game losing streak, the first round pick that is a waste thanks to lowballing & this is not good I do agree that the Wisler/Sims yo yo has to go, these guys are not MLB caliber As for Santana, we all knew he is a AAAA player and that is being generous. They have to break down and get role players who are better than the Santana's of the world

I don’t know if I’ve seen any player get as few ABs as Flaherty has over such a long period. As much as I preached he was going to regress, you still have to work a guy once a week and then pinch hit him a lot. You can’t let him just rot on the bench then expect him to perform as a pinch hitter once every ten days. Either play him more or replace him. We know Snitker loves him, which makes me feel like he’s not the one calling that shot—the key to getting him some time would be to sit Dansby, even if just once a week or so, but again thinking that may be coming from higher up, that ain’t going to happen. And I only choose Dansby because he’s been by far the weakest of the hitters who would be involved in getting Flaherty any playing time. It’s another small black mark in my book towards AA.
