Opinions/predictions aren't facts, please stop. In time you might be right. Even if you are proven right, you were not dealing in facts. Facts are proveable. Here's my entire post you are referencing: "You are arguing your opinion. I'm arguing facts. The fact is a 26 year old top 20 overall hitter is about to hit the open market the same year we have 90 mil to spend. We will be in on Harper. That is a fact. We have money to spend and have been leading up to a run in 2019. The same year Harper is a free agent. Fact. You've developed animosity toward Harper because he's a Nat and is an aggressive person. Fact. Because of this you say stupid things like you wouldn't pull for him even if he were on the team and would stop watching(from the old bored) even though you know that's complete bologna. Fact." Please tell me which point I made that wasn't a fact besides the obvious sarcasm at the end of the post? I understand I've ruffled some feathers but everything I said about Harper is provable.

I'd rather have Machado than Harper.........IF he would agree to play 3rd base. This would allow the Braves to package Riley in a deal for some real value, whether it be the outfielder we need, or whatever. Riley would bring back value. After those 2 moves are made, we can find another free agent that suits our needs at a reasonable price. I'm not advocating trading Riley, by the way, I just don't like Harper.

Shouldn't the fact be that this 26-year-old hitter is inarguably the best player in the game at the $$ he would command? Trout is better, obviously, as mentioned, I like Machado better, and arguments can be made for several others. Hell, Acuna might be better than him by next year. For $40 million per year, the guy had better be the best in the game, and given what we know, I don't think that's the case with Harper.......plus he's a putz.

I'd be happy with Machado as well. I like Harper better but Machado is a stud. 2 problems I see with him though. Imho he's gonna demand SS from his next team. The Yankees have the money and the need at SS/3rd for him. They will be in on Machado. Their OF is overloaded as is so I doubt they go after Harper.

That's a fair point but Trout(by his own decision) isn't a FA. We can only buy what's available. Acuna(if he does what we expect) will demand an even bigger contract in 7 years. The "putz thing" is something you may have to come to terms with because we are going to be a finalist for Harper.

I'm sorry, but I really don't think we will be a finalist for Harper unless the price comes WAY down. Like I said, I prefer Machado anyway, and he IS going to be available. Point is, it is only opinion at this point. The potential is certainly there for either of these kids to be Hall of Fame worthy in the future. The fact is, any big money free agent signing is a gamble, and I just happen to think that Machado is a better all-around bet than Harper.

I personally think the price is what gets us Harper. Imho we will give him an avg of 45 mil per for the first 5 years then an avg of 25 mil per year 6-10. He will have a player option after year 4 and 5. He will take it at 31 after year 5.

God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy.
Baseball fans have strong opinions, and they can often be rooted in emotion. It's fine to say "I think that opinion is rooted in emotion instead of fact" and just leave it at that without further comment about anyone's IQ or mental capacity.
Thanks in advance for toning it down. This is a smaller and more close knit community of fans and it seems the vast majority want the discussion and opinion without insults (unless it's obviously good natured between friends).

With all due respect..........DUUUUUUDE!!

I just don't think spending what it will take to get Harper is in the Braves organizational DNA, even if we technically have the money. They are not going to spend it just because they have it available. Even cash rich businesses try to only spend what is necessary, and I think the Braves will see other opportunities they think will do the job well enough but still provide a better value. Personally, I am on the Harper is dooshnozzle train... but I'll take a doosh if it brings us a championship. I would just prefer to win that championship without the doosh. The entire idea of us winning a championship and Harper not getting one despite his great stats is fantastic. In the end though, I expect the people in charge to do what they think is best as long as it really is what they believe is best for winning a championship and maintaining long term competitive goals.

That's what I figure he doesn't unfortunately fit 'the Braves way." I would like some example of this doosh behavior with him though as I've never seen it. I guess that's all POV too though.

Have you ever met someone and just had their general vibe rub you the wrong way? You just get a sense about them, and your doosh radar goes off? Then of course there are things like this where he acts like he's going to toss a ball to some kids, and then pulls it back.. and then theres 5 reasons why Bryce Harper is a dooshnozzleThen of course there have been a multitude of bat flips, and fit pitching... but anyway.. To all my fellow Bryce is a doosh brethren, I give you:

for sure
"Then of course there are things like this where he acts like he's going to toss a ball to some kids, and then pulls it back.."
I admit that looked pretty bad...would like to know the context.
"Then of course there have been a multitude of bat flips, and fit pitching..'
it's that stuff that doesn't really bother me so now like Natalie Imbruglia I'm feeling a bit torn
I've just always liked players with a bit of edge and attitude like Werth and Utley ect

The context is that those were children... from an orphanage, and they all had terminal diseases... and their dying wish was to go to an actual MLB ballgame for the first times in their lives...and have a player toss a ball to them... and this was all announced pregame when all the players were on the field warming up.
