....and yet he had Carmago hitting away with Dansby on base to tie the game last night....... That was such a no brainer even Snit figured it out! Or, it's more likely that Camargo missed a bunt sign. If Camargo bunted Dansby over, they would have walked Suzuki to set up the DP with Culberson coming up. This may be a huge stretch, but I think even ol' Gabe Classless Dick might have been able to figure that one out.

LOL......maaayybbbeeee..... ....which leads to................. How did we end up in that situation with Culberson and not Lane Adams??? I guess you haven't seen my rants about us keeping Bourjos (in french that means "useless") over Adams. Did you know that when released, Adams had a 129 wRC+ and a .793 OPS and that Bourjos had a wRC+ of 11 and an OPS of .393? Small sample sizes, but I think the eye test alone told us Adams should have stayed. My biggest fear there is that Adams was being paid $575k this year and Bourjos $1M. Surely they didn't want to feel like they were just throwing away that extra money, right? ??

I did know that....and never understood it....no idea why they dumped Lane, but if it was $$$$$ (which I highly doubt) bringing in someone like Jace, who would have been able to play if/of and would have been at least equal to the new "Frenchy" and Culberson combined, seems to have made more sense.
But then, full disclosure, I once thought Gabe Classless Dick might be a good manager someday, so............................

Some people got excited about Classless Dick talking about using advanced stats, but no matter what your game plan is, it doesn't necessarily mean you know what you're actually doing or that you're any good at it.

It wasn't so much the stats part....I think ALL stats are worth looking at to get a better picture of something, especially for that moment when a game might hang on the line. I thought he had some good clubhouse leadership traits, was in tune with the "new" nutrition and conditioning methods, and might actually have a good grasp of running a game plan that made some sense.................maybe he's so far ahead of the times that we just don't realize it.

Classless Dick's issue goes to something I've said all along about advanced stats. I think they are a fantastic tool, but you can't just plug them into a spreadsheet and run the team based on the output. If you could, all teams would just replace the manager with a computer and some algorithms.
During the first couple of weeks of the season, Classless Dick managed the team like a computer using algorithms and advanced stats input.

Yeah, that whole thing of bringing a relief pitcher into a game when he hasn’t even thrown a pitch in the bullpen might be the new rage of the future!

Yeah, perfect example of needing something other than just numbers....clubhouse management is still also a huge part of a manager's job, given all the huge inflated egos in a relatively confined space.

Heh..."rage" might be the perfect descriptive term for that!
